I'm having trouble with this one. I think Rowena is a matriarichal figure -- a central connection between families of sidhe-seers. I think there are too many players who would be able to recognize Aoibheal, even disguised, who would do her harm.
I think the torques in and of themselves, are just jewelry, a fashion they acquired from the ancient Irish. The GOLD torque signifies their royal status. Darroc's is black. He wasn't royal? Hmmm.
I'm also of the camp that V'lane is Seelie. We saw in Adam's story, that many Seelie have little regard for humans -- Adam was very unusual in his fascination with mortals. He also said he was pretty young, and I suspect that influenced his interest. (How many little boys have you seen pretend to be Spiderman, or girls be princesses?)
I do think the Lord Master / Alina's boyfriend is Darroc, and he is up to no good. In Cian's story, Trevayne recalls a strange copper haired man who claimed to have lived with the Tua de, and could read the runes on the mirror, who was looking for the Dark Book. How exactly he has been amassing power, and how he got from court banishment to standing at a dolmen calling out Unseelie prisoners is yet unknown to us.
So we have to stay tuned. BTW, as a person who passed elementary algebra on the THIRD try, and only because I had LOTS of help, I am in awe of astrophysicists. Kudos to you!
It's really cool to have someone of your caliber and scientific background contributing. Adds a whole layer of plausibility to the thing. I think it was Dr. Arthur C. Clarke who noted that any technology sufficiently advanced will appear to be magic to the unknowledgable.
