Subject: Seelie and Unseelie Hallows

Hi everyone. My boss and I are avid readers of Karen's novels. Anyway, we have questions that need answers and we have apparently missed seeing them in the books so any help would be appreciated. (1. Who, up until now, has/had been keeping the hallows safe? It was our thought that it was Circenn as we believe he had the Spear and the Sword of Light. We know he threatened Adam with it; yet in Darkfever, Mac goes with J.B. and steals the Spear. So at some point it made its way from Scotland to Ireland.(2. Is there any mention of how these hallows were stolen? And, did the good guys ever have any 'unseelie' hallows in their possession for safekeeping? (3. Did the MacKeltars ever keep these things or are they just keepers of the Compact? (4. Was there any other clue other than at the end of "Spell" that things were amiss in the (Seelie) Fae world? Thanks!!!!!

[> Hello and welcome Carol H. I don't think it has ever been said how Circenn lost the hallows, it is just speculation. I am hopeing that as the series progress KMM tells us. I am not sure if the good guys ever had any unseelie hallows that is a good questions. I think the MacKeltars are just the keepers of the compact and a bunch of kick a$$ druids. I think that Spell is the one that spelled out that things were amiss but in Into the Dreaming it went more into letting us know that the Aobiheel had an affair with the Unseelie King, I think this is an indication that things were not quite right but that is my own speculation. I also think there are clues throughout all her books and they will all come to a head in this Fever Series. -- Cheryle

Here're your questions:

IMHO really good question. I don't think there is an answer.

Queen Abby talks about a disaster that happened in the 17th century, and 20th century. I'm not sure that we know what these disasters refer to yet, but potentially loss or theft of the Hallows might have been involved.

I'm pretty sure that the MacKeltars just kept the Compact.

Yes. IMHO, in Immortal, there is plenty of discussion by Darroc of wanting to free the Unseelie from the prison and unleash them on the world. Darroc brings the Royal Hunters out, and we see them for the first time. Since the royal hunters only can come out of prison when Queen Abby requests, that's how Adam Black knows Darroc is plotting to overthrow the queen.

Carol & Cheryle suggest that it has something to do with how the magic failed on that night from Dark, but I have to confess I don't think I understand that part yet. --
