hi cant supply you with picture of the durham trader but i can give a little insight what the ship was like and life aboard her it was my first trip deep sea 1957 nov so check his discharge book my no r664860 ijoined in the tyne what a wreck she looked a proper rust bucket she had the letter T on the in a circle on the funnel the rust on the decks was as thick as a pack of cards there was no paint anywhereexcept the said funnel we all lived aft next to the steering gear which when the steerig wheel was turned sounded like a machine gun this is what you had to live with for poeple to a room 1 tin locker the accomadation was heaving with cockroaches in your food and in you clothes hot water came out of the winches or a kettle out of the galley,if you were lucky hte food had to be carried in kits from the galley to aft if you didnt get to the messroom in time there would be nothing left first come first served. there was fights all the time and me being deck boy. i suffered. let me tell you the ship was falling to bits. our cargos were iron ore on my last voyage we were loaded with iron ore when we were in collision with a sweedish ship we lost some of our bows we made it to hull where we were paid off i think the ship was scrapped after that it would have been as rough for him as it was for me,if youve ever heard the saying a floating coffin that would describe the trader ,she belonged to the trader navergation co captain elliot was one of the owners we ran manchester norway ,narvick with iron ore hope this hass given you some insite without the picture .mike
