Hi, my grandad Harold Samson was an AB on the Tordene joined at Liverpool sailing with a cargo to Halifax, Nova Scotia before heading back to UK.

I don't have any dates but have written comments from him saying the ship limped back into Liverpool shadowed by a Sunderland flying boat.

If anyone can help me with dates or would like to know more details please email me at ruthrichards1973@gmail.com

Looking for any information that may be available on the SS. Kinsale, would appreciate your help and I both thank you in advance and will do so after your assistance. A pointer to a source for a picture would be great. Regards and thanks, Keith.

I have a friend named Ernie Hawks, his father went down on the ship Benalbanach in WW2 on the 7th of January. I am trying to find a photo, preferably a scan, of the Benalbanach so that I could show Ernie the ship his father was on. Ernie also fought in ww2 as well but in Burma.
If you could help me find a picture of her I would be most grateful.
Many Thanks.
Joanne.

Does anyone remember the ship "Golden Daffodil" that used to take punters over to France for day trips in the 1950's.
I think from memory that it left from Southamton.
I still have photo's of myself as a kid hanging over the rails trying to fish.
Cheers, Roger

I have been asked many times to provide a section on the website where pictures of people at sea and ashore can be posted.
This is now available on the new Photo Galley.
Just click the 'Register' link, complete the simple form, wait for a very short time for your e-mail address to be confirmed then away you go, post all those pictures of you, your mates and your ships onto any of the Categories listed.
Brian.

Probably not as important on passenger ships as on tankers and tramps, but on those, your own radio was a luxury, Any fond memories of the best models? for me it was the "Pye marine" ( 17 quid in Rotterdam) If I remember correctly it boasted seven short wave bands, Great set. Entertainment system suplied on Br tankers in those days was a wind up gramaphone. Cheers Albi
