I found his memorial details and know his name is registered in the Tower Hill Memorial in London but can find no further details of him. His name was Percy Bird and he was in the Merchant Navy and was master of sailing vessel Blue Mermaid (Harwich) and he died 09/07/41 aged 38 years.
