Cargo ship Zurichmoor, 4,455grt, (Moor Line Ltd) had been sailing independently from Halifax, Nova Scotia to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands in ballast after crossing the Atlantic in Convoy ON-90. The ship and her compliment of 44 never reached St. Thomas. The ship was not officially classed as missing/untraced until 29th July 1942. A German radio message was later intercepted claiming the ship had been sunk. German records would later show the ship had been torpedoed and sunk by U-432 on 23rd May 1943 East of Philadelphia in position 39' 30N 66' 00W. No trace of the ship or crew was ever found.
