Date Posted: 29/01/08 2:38am In reply to: Keith Greenway 's message, "SS. Essex Envoy" on 17/01/08 9:19am CAPETOWN, Friday, Sept 11th 1925 Strikers who tried to-day to prevent the Essex liner Essex Envoy From putting to sea were held at bay by her captain with a loaded revolver. His courage gained the day, and the ship is now at sea, While the strikers are on shore. We have gained valuable information on the event, we strive now to find more on the outcome. The Strike factor seems huge and difficult to find much info on. The Seamans strike 1925, certainly the Empire was involved and many Ships, Captains and Crews. To date I have found about 6 ships only. Thanks to all for every assistance and to Lisa for her notes sent. Keith. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
