Date Posted: 12/02/08 5:16am Reading a piece the other day about a ship that had two refits. At the end of each the registered tonnage of the ship changed, it was reduced. Back in the days we sailed I was taught that tonnage was measured by the displacem,ent of water. Modern ships I am infoormed go by cubic meterage, one metre to the ton.
