I will have a full recap sometime tomorrow. But for now, let me say that if you were looking for a first-rate competition, you got it this year. The top 5 was exactly what you were always hoping for-strong talent and everyone who excelled not only tonight, but throughout the week. I think that every contestant in that top 5 but TN made a strong case for herself. Congratulations to Abbie Stockard. She seems like a very sweet girl and I know she will do a great job. I also congratulate the rest of the top 5. It is nice to say now that there are two other pageant systems where you can go and succeed. I hope some of them try it out because the world is waiting for them. FL could do very well in the USA system and I could see her winning Miss USA someday.
Madison's suffering breaks my heart. You can see how much she is grieving her mother. I am not sure if you caught a glimpse of her before the crowning moment but she looked very upset. I think she had a rough road of it this year. I wish her much success in her next steps and most of all, I wish her wholeness again someday. She will never be the same without her mother, but she will get to a point where she is not in as much pain as she is in right now.
The production was, I think, not as good as last year. I think Terrence the emcee was a bit unpolished. More on that tomorrow.
[> Subject: Had a soft spot for Oregon's Abby. Watched her compete as a teen & was truly surprised when she showed up as an at-large last summer, but knew she was our next Miss Oregon. Never really thought she had a chance, but the dream was still there.
[> [> Subject: I can understand why. She reminded me of a young Tamara Finch, another wonderful Miss Oregon. How old is she? MAO girls have done well at Volunteer America, it would be great to see her there.
