Last year, Heather Whitestone of Alabama judged Abbie Stockard of Alabama who went on to become Miss America.

This year, Tawny Godin of New York judged Cassie Donegan of New York who went on to become Miss America.

Heather was celebrating the 30th year of her crowning; Tawny was celebrating the 50th.

This has happened at least once before that I can remember. In 2006 Susan Powell of Oklahoma judged Lauren Nelson of Oklahoma who went on to become Miss America. Susan was celebrating the 25th year of her crowning.

I love cool stuff like that.

I am really happy with the results. Full review tomorrow, but I do wonder what is going to happen with Cassie. As we know, she was not the original Miss New York crowned this summer. Mina Liang was and resigned a few days later due to an apparent residence violation. Will this come up in interviews? My guess is yes if a journalist does their homework. These are the kinds of stories that are milked "She didn't even win the first time now she wins Miss America!" kind of thing. How does she answer? Does the MAO want to keep a distance from this?

I really do not know much about this, I am not sure that anyone really does. I do have a feeling that it will come up in interviews.

This year had 3 of the top 5 as returnees from last year: AL, FL, and TX. TX has been first runner-up for 3 years in a row. Sometimes this pageant felt very USA to me tonight.

What are your thoughts?
