Well that afternoon got away from me. But here's a recap of night two.

SS
Holy moly, this was a SMOKING HOT group of women! I could have seen SS go numerous different ways, and apparently the judges agreed. Both were very deserving winners. I had both of them as possibilities. I thought that the tie would have been TN and SC but I thought OK was absolutely a correct choice. I had her slightly behind SC, TN, and UT. OR was strong in SS as well, she wasn't in talent the night before but had to score well. I thought there was even an outside chance she might win. WA would have been next, and then PA, RI, and WI would be after them. The weakest I thought was WY and that was only because her walk was a little bit off, she was leaning front a bit. But she still was quite fit and in great shape. Really not a bad SS in this group. They were fantastic!

Talent
The talent was subpar. For all the good talents the night before, this was a huge letdown. I am hoping tonight redeems itself. To be fair, the talent hasn't been what we knew at the national level for a long time. Even at MAO where it is now 50 percent, some talent is not up to par. But anyway, it was really weak overall. AL was entertaining but it was really pageanty. It was very old school and did not really do justice to a young woman. So was CA. She did a speed paiting routine to Blue Suede Shoes and was dancing a bit in between. She painted an upside down Elvis and threw glitter on it at the end. It was great considering where they were but I think if a clip like that went viral she would be chided. That was followed by CO singing Elvis and she was way off key with no tone. CT played I Will Survive on the piano and it just was rudimentary. She has a great educational background, a Yale student, and I think she would have had some potential with the right choices. I just think she could have picked a better song if she was able to play piano, which she did. DC was decent but nowhere near the level of a Katie Harman. I want to see what FL does in SS tonight because she unfortunately does not have a good talent but was really strong in SS. GA-you can tell she has a good voice but the performance itself was decent. It wasn't outstanding, and she hit a really sour note at the end. She sang "Love Song" by the Cure. It was hardly recognizable. HI did a hula and hula is always nice. It was something you have seen many times over from a HI contestant. IL was actually a decent dancer and I thought she might have won until IN sang. She wasn't perfect but was certainly the best of the group, or so I thought.

EG
VERY strong group in EG. Lots of great gowns, lots of nice presentations. NY really stood out to me, her gown was great. I really think she has enough of what it takes to win NY USA, and that is a strong program. Depending on what she does for talent I could see her in the top 10. LA, MS and NH were all very high on my list as well. These would have been my top 4. KY looked nice, and I really liked MO's gown. It was an ombre green but also had some silver designs, it was very different from what we are used to seeing but very pretty. Same for NV-it was a teal dress with a cape but very pretty teal and nude bodice. NE also scored well for me, she was in a basic white but she has a nice presence about her. Natalie Ragazzo looked very nice in blue, she was one of my other high scorers in this group. And NC was last in this group but certainly not least. She had such a nice presence about her-she just had a glow about her face, a twinkle in her eye, and looked very elegant. Overall, a REALLY nice group. I loved it.

And the final prelims start in a little over an hour, so I will be back with a live post!
