Chelsea Vuong and Elizabeth Sartuche are both vying for the title of Miss California this weekend. Both AMAZING young women who would be perfect for the title of Miss California. I think, sadly, they are both in their last years of eligibility. So, one of these two lovely women are not going to be able to win. What is so great now is that it is not the end of the road for great contestants like these. There is now Miss Volunteer America and they can still compete and likely do very well there.

California is always one of my favorite state pageants because of the quality of their contestants. Very rarely do I not appreciate a Miss California. And here is a shoutout to the amazing women who never quite clinched the state title but would have otherwise been very worthy:

Angel Blue
Cheri Gorin
Megan Lyne
Izamar Olaquez
Jane Kennedy

Jane Kennedy in particular was the one that got away. She had Miss America written all over her. I think she is now too old for Volunteer but she was damned near perfection, especially in gown. Now if you have been reading this board for quite some time you all know I love me some Eileen Kim and was thrilled that she won. But there are always the ones that cannot, there can only be one winner.

Looking forward to a great contest on Saturday night
