My main concerns with all this stuff is:

1. It takes people AWAY from spiritual practice and into fortune telling, astrology, crystals, palm-reading, levitation, etc etc etc and all the fake 'spiritual powers' that people claim to have. This encourages others to try to develop them, and does the ego no good.

2. It encourages a journey outward, when a spiritual journey should be inward.

3. Any fool can make vague claims such as these.

its fine saying 'be open minded' but not if it encourages anti spiritual practice, such as this. Discrimination is required.

As the Buddha said, 'Dont take my word for it, try the teachnigs for yourself and see if it is true'

Let these 'fortune tellers' make a series of specific predictions that can be verified, then I am prepared to be convinced.

I require that they convince me if they want me to believe their claims. There's nothing wrong in that.

There are thousands of people such as these, making claims such as these. Why should i believe in them and not all the others? Why do you?

Bear in mind I have attended a meditation group for about 8 years now, and Ive heard much of this stuff many times. 'Powers' that people have or their 'Guru' has. And Ive seen these often be shown as fakes - but that doesnt seem to teach the gullible anything - they just move on to the next one. In the end, i let them get on with it. I guess they are not ready for proper spiritual practice.

Normally I wouldnt (for the same reasons) reply like this, but Ive just seen a whole load of these folks have one of their 'Gurus' shown to be a fake, beyond doubt - hes admitted it. And still they dont really learn, but carry on with his 'special practice' still talk about other, very similar 'Gurus' who make the same sort of claims, and still think he may still be 'highly spiritually evolved' even though they accept the irrefutable evidence.
