Pretty quiet around here -- Sick_brick, 17:00:38 06/28/09 Sun [2]

Wow, pretty quiet in here. I heard Jack ran a 4.92 something Sat. night. Anyone see the run? Anything else exciting happen this past weekend? Who all's going to be out there Friday, or Saturday night next week?

RONNIE TYE AND THE HILL CREW -- MRS WOP (HAPPY), 13:09:50 05/27/09 Wed [1]

I WOULD HAVE TO AGREE WITH KEN TUCKER. WE HAVE BEEN RACING AT PRAIRIE HILL FOR A LONG TIME AND HAVE ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE. MY GOSH WHAT TRACK CAN YOU SAY YOU CAN GO TO AND KNOW EVERYONE AND NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING YOU LEAVE LAYING AROUND (IT DON'T GET LEGS AND WALK AWAY IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN) WE HAVE RACED AT PRAIRIE HILL AND KNOW RONNIE TYE AND HIS FAMILY AND THEY ARE AS NICE AS THEY CAN BE AND SO IS EVERYBODY ELSE FOR THAT MATTER. WE HAVE NOT BEEN OUT THIS YEAR BECAUSE WE HAVE HAD A DAUGHTER GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL AND HAVE HAVE PLENTY EXPENSES ALONG WITH THAT AND MANY OTHER THINGS. OUR CAR IS NOT RUNNING AT THIS TIME (FRANK BLEW IT UP GOOD THIS TIME ON HIS BIRTHDAY FOR THAT MATTER) (HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRANK, NOT) BUT WE WILL BE BACK OUT WHEN CAR GETS RUNNING AGAIN ALMOST EVERY WEEKEND LIKE ALWAYS. HEY GUYS THAT HAVE A BITCH OR COMPLAINT WE DRIVE 99 MILE ONE WAY GETTING AROUND 7 MILE TO THE GALLON JUST TO STAY AND RACE A FEW HOURS BUT THAT IS WHAT YOU DO WHEN YOU ENJOY A TRACK AND EVERYONE YOU RACE WITH. SO KEN AND LITTLE KENNY AND EVERYONE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER YALL MUST BE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT. MAY BE DOWN THIS WEEKEND TO WATCH (BUT HAVE TO BRING OUR NEW DOG HE LOVES THE RACE TRACK AND ESPICALLY ALL THE ATTENTION HE GETS FROM THE LADIES) SO I JUST WANTED TO SAY A FEW THINGS TO KEN AND GLENDA WE MISS YALL A BUNCH BUT WILL BE BACK SOON.

Ronnie Tye,and "The Hill" -- Ken and Glenda and the whole "HILL" crew, 08:32:37 05/27/09 Wed [1]

First and foremost,Ronnie Tye.....every racer that comes to "The Hill" deserves and receives our utmost respect. I have known Ronnie and his family many years before we took over the track. They are not just good racers, they are good people. With out his and other racers/fans help we would have been unable to open the track this year.As for as him not having the fastest car, that may be true but he is the most consistent. He is one of the tracks most dedicated supporters. I will defend him and all of our racers that come to the track.
Now as for as the track is concerned.....I would love to have time boards down the track and we are always looking for sponsors so if you or someone that you know wants to sponsor these please give me a call......The return lane will take a little getting use too but we feel that it is safer in front of the stands than behind. The barrels are only temp.and in the mean time the speed limit in the return lane is idle speed in front of the stands and
ALL cars must stop at the time slip booth.
Why is it that racers talk about having an index race but when we have one only one or two cars show up. You tell me what I need to do and I will do my best to do it.
Now that's said, I want to thank each and everyone of our racers and fans for their great support. I have been doing custom car shows for 30 years and don't receive the support and loyalty that I receive from you. I am very proud to call each and everyone one of you my friends. THANKS

I for one went 7 years without a car to race but I still came out from time to time to see how everyone was doing. Their is only a few people still out that used to frequent the track when I used to go. I am still meeting the new ones and ALL that I have met seem pretty nice to me. Until the end of the last year and the beginning of this year I had not ran at the track since Ken had it. I would have to say it is in alot better shape and cared for alot better now than it ever has been. I for one will be out of town for the next two Saturdays but you will see me there pretty regularly after that.

improvements an safety concerns -- wildchild lil 447 vega cumin soon, 21:46:32 05/15/09 Fri [4]

how many people that truely race at the hill are ok with the way just the barrels seperating the fans from the return lane i mean i couldnt live with myself if a 5 yr old walked out in front of me when i was cuming up the return road a wall all the way back to the pits would help that alot also how about getting some score boards and a wall all the way down the right lane would be good too i mean cedar creek aka 7 points has that (score boards and gaurd rail down both sides of track)...... neway lets see how many supporters in this i hae because if sum of these things would happen there would be alot safer track to really put down power for racers and fans and it would bring more supporters because its safe and it puts on a good show for safe and entertaining environment

The barrels are fine with me no wall needed, just drivers need to use a little common sense. All you have to do is go slow & pay attention when around people(pedestrians, kids, dogs) or if you are unable to drive slow, have someone tow you through there. I don't want to see anyone hurt either but I have seen drivers drive way too fast down the return road. If it bothers you that bad, after you make a pass just turn left at the end of the track & come back that way. Have you been to little river, if not you better watch out because the cars drive right behind the bleachers to the staging lanes and will run right over you if you don't watch out. I think you use score boards at those games that takes only 1 ball, football, baseball, ect, however some time boards might be nice.

Ken, Ryan here the brother in law brought his diesel down to the Hill a couple weeks ago for some test n tune, he said you would like to get me back and have a big diesel shoot out. That sounds good to me, are there more diesels showing up down that way yet? Im ready to come back and lower that record some more.

The brother in law did show though Sat. night with his Diesel powered Chevy, did any one get to see it run? I'll be back down soon enough, I'll be lowering that diesel record by over a half second....

Whats to deal -- Slow Nova, 17:37:49 05/15/09 Fri [9]

Does anyone in hear really know why some many people at that track think Ronnie Tye is the shit. What the hell is his best time anyway? I have seen to many street cars at that track that could crack his ass. Lets talk to Ken and around the July 4 lets set up a gamblers race of run what you brung and hope you brought enough. Do what some of the other tracks do when you put your number on your cars if you want to grudge race just put a $ sign by it!!! Start making this track better know it has a great location for Houston and Dallas to do their grudge racing

I used to think the same thing about Tye. But look around, he's out there EVERY weekend and making pass after pass. Sure there's faster cars than his, but I don't see them out there EVERY weekend and making near as many passes as him. You might be able to out run him this week, but keep coming back and racing him every time he goes down the track, I'm sure not many can do what he's doing as far as durability and speed goes. He's damn fast to be able to make hot laps like he does.

I have seen Ronnie run for a long time. I just met him last weekend and he didn't seem to think he was the "shit". I haven't heard anyone else say that either (until now). I have seen his car run high 5's and low 6's but I haven't seen any of the street cars that run at PH do that. No he is not the fastest but he is one of the faster cars and like sick brick said, he makes alot of passes. I don't really know him so I can't really defend him but he seemed ok to me.

By the way, why when people get on here to run their mouth, why don't they put their name? It would make the smack talk funner.

The others that are devoted Bubba Spence/James Shamblin/Brandon and David Allen/Clyde Hannie/Mike and Michal White!! That is just a few So that is the end of that... Back to trying to get gambler races set up what do you guys and gals think of that. Have any of you been to HMP in Houston there is a lot of fast cars and fast cash down there.

Big momma's right, Ronnie's a really nice guy. Have you ever met him? If not, give it a try, you might be surprised how nice and down to earth guy he is. The reason you hear a lot about him is because he's the fastest car to show up EVERY WEEKEND out at the hill. Like I said before, he's not the fastest, but he's there rain or shine. If Robbie could make it out every weekend like Tye, you'd only hear about Robbie. And also, where's WOP? I understand there's a bigger motor in the future. How far in the future are we talking? I love those wheelstands, can't wait to see it again. And What's the deal with Big Momma's old man? Didn't he know when racing season started?...lol. Don't let Robbie end up like Tye, and build a 540 with the same heads as the 496, it just won't improve that much on the timeslip, unless there's going to be a cam swap and a bigger shot of nitrous. It would certainly be much more versatile and last much longer. Either way, I bet both WOP and Robbie will beat me back to the track, but I'll keep trying to stir things up here until then. Does anyone know when Jon's gonna open the bottle on his car? I can't wait to see that either!

As far at he gamblers race or any other race besides bracket, I'd love it, and so will all the other fans that put the gate money where it belongs. An index race would be really fun too.

Garland Racer with Blown Rodeck Coming To The Hill -- New Track Visitor, 19:43:01 05/04/09 Mon [8]

I recently visited your track at Prairie Hill for the first time. It seems like a good track. I saw some interesting vehicles, too. I mentioned PH to a buddy of mine who has a big Blown Nitrous Rodeck motor in a Pro-Mod Camaro door car and now he wants to run PH soon. I didn't see anyone run in the 4's when I was there. Did everyone with a fast car stay home that weekend or what??

Hell my promod has a 702ci fulton motor with 1500 hp on motor only and I am spraying a 1200 shot on top of that(yea whatever). Quit typing and start loading, there is going to be a pretty nice turnout for this coming weekend so bring it on out.

TO WHOEVER THE WANNA BE FAST CAR COMMENT BELONGS TO (NO I WAS NOT THE FASTEST BUT MY BABY 355 SURE HUNG WITH ALL OF THE BIG BLOCKS) AND YES PEOPLE WANT TO SEE THE WHEELS IN THE AIR AND FAST CARS ALSO. SO RUNNING A 6.03 WITH A 355 IS A BIG DEAL. WHAT U GOT WITH ALL YOUR TALKING. MY CAR IS DOWN NOW BUT BUILDING A BIGGER ONE WITH REAL HORSEPOWER AND WILL STILL DO THE WHEEL STAND AND RUN WITH OUT NOS AND WILL STILL HANG WITH THE BIG BOYS. SO WHEN I GET MY MOTOR BUILT I WILL BE BACK OUT. ROB AND JON HAVE NOT BEEN OUT EITHER AND THEIR CARS ARE BAD ASS. SO WHEN OUR CREW IS BACK YOU CAN SEE SOME REAL CARS WITH REAL HORSEPOWER. SO WHEN WE GET THEM TOGETHER I HOPE U WILL BE THERE WITH YOUR BAD ASS CAR BECAUSE U SURE DO A LOT OF SHIT TALKING.

Then you can take it home and watch it and see a REAL car all you want. Mine is not nearly the fastest car out there but I will still line up with you anytime win or lose. I am only running on motor for now but that will change soon so we would all like to invite you to bring your shit on.

He said he heard from his source that a door car was going to go for the et record. I heard from my source that he heard from his cousin Vinny that a girl from his hood heard from a guy that overheard someone talking that HE(as in the first he) is full of crap.

LOOK, Vinny's step brother, Louige, know's how Vinny can get when he is upset. Let's just say that we do NOT want to make Vinny unhappy, OK??? I'd like to live a lot longer. SOOO, if someone with any kind of a REAL door car that has REAL horsepower shows up at the track and runs a 4.68, let the little boys that talk their talk either make that walk or duck their tails and hide.

Well if someone runs a 4.68 or anywhere in the 4's I will tell them it was a nice pass. That doesn't mean however that a car that runs in the 5's doesn't have some real hp it just means the 4 second car has a few more. The 5 second cars have made passes though so until this 4 second car shows and makes a 4 second pass then all I hear is BLAH BLAH BLAH

All I got to say is I got low ET with a old 496 a bunch of times when there was some real horsepower cars there. I guess my car was making fake horsepower in somebody's eyes. Bring on all the horsepower & cubes & doors you got, but until you get er done your just a "might be" HAHA. BTW it takes more than horsepower to win a race so be prepared to have your ass drug a few times.LOL

Hey#!#! Robert (with the cops car) is a nice guy. It SO happens that he is about the ONLY one with THE real horsepower that has created so much controversy lately. That REAL horsepower he has[that has also caused so many testosterone laden little guys to spout off their mouths about what horsepower they have) is what is going to wake up those little guys. Ha!THAT is WHY he has been breaking so many parts. You little horsepower guys with your underpowered but way over talked motors need to expect to see some REAL horsepower soon. Just WAIT until he gets his parts together. All yall will then HAVE TO walk the walk or tuck your tails and hide. MY money is on the cops car.

I was saying to the ones running there mouths that all I was hearing was BLAH BLAH BLAH until they could back it up. I also never said who I was or what HP I had. So if your money is on the cop car, how much money are we talking, I just might be interested.

Hey InSITgator, I know you did not say anything bad about Robert. Heck, there is really nothing bad that COULD be said about Robert. He is an honest straight forward type guy. So let's leave the person out of it and go back to the race car. I know there is a little blue Camaro or whatever it is that is somewhat fast and maybe a Nova or a Pinto or even a Honda Civic with a four banger or a four wheeler out there but when the cops car get his act together with enough meat in the parts to handle the nitrous .... I expect records to fall. It think it will take some time but it IS coming. When he gets his act together, then we will talk money. BTW, whose car is YOUR money on?

When Robert gets it going the way YOU want it to go so you can put some money up then we will worry about what car I have my money on for that race(and for the record I don't bet against friends cars so the bet would have to be against you with nothing seeming like it was going against Robert). As for now(the first weekend we get to race that is) I have my money of MY car. I even have 2 crisp one dollar bills out right now, who you want to put your money on right now? Maybe you should get your own car(unless you have one, not trying to say you don't), or line me up with the 4 cylinder that way I might win and have 4 dollars.

I'll take you up on your two crisp one dollar bill bet on one condition.......that you loan me two wrinkled dollar bills so that when the cop's car outruns the car you wish could win, then I can repay my loan to you and still have two dollars left so I can buy my grandson a hotdog at the track concession stand. If I lose the bet, then just put the money I lost on the account. Oh, uh, yeah,... on the account the I can not afford to re-pay you.

Black Chevy Diesel Powered Truck -- Ryan Tucker, 21:17:35 04/03/09 Fri [1]

Ryan Tucker here again, im about ready to come back down and lower my diesel record there. It stands there around a 6.79 or so I think it was and have gone in the teens latley and fill I can tune it into the high 5's pretty soon, id like to come down and visit the track again, we had a great time down there last year, Ken T. and his staff did a great job and the track "hooked" well, I know when the track is good when I can plant this 1700/1800 Ft. Lbs Torque. Ive had to add a lot more cage and just put a front clip on the truck to run in the NHRDA circuit, ive weighed up now from around 3800 then to now 4500# to make thier min. weight rules, I'll have to chuck more power to it to run the number but I think i can do it, we'll see soon! I call ya Ken during the week when I plan to come down, im thinking within 4-6 weeks or so.

Bad news from "The Hill"...... storms on 2/10/09 caused severe damage to the track....we lost all of our out buildings except the tower....we lost all power, and at least four of our light poles are laying on the track. Pictures can be seen on our web page www.prairiehilldragway.com.....Our March opening will be delayed a little...It will take at least 4 weeks to do the repair and get open, but rest assured we will be open again. I want to thank all who have made the great comments about "The Hill". My staff and I will do all that we can to make Prairie Hill a place to come and have a great time doing what we all enjoy. Thanks for your support and understanding.

Not sure what the current standing diesel record is but if you want to set a record at Prairie Hill Dragway that means anything, you might want to inject some propane or nitrous or nitro or a combination therof, then maybe your diesel could outrun the rice/diesel burning four cylinder Mazda I saw last weekend at a track. Just joking. I don't see any diesel outrunning THAT Mazda four banger.

PRAIRIE HILL ALL HAVE NOT BEEN DOWN IT IN A FAST CAR. I KNOW THIS MAY HURT, UT IF YOU CAN'T HOOK AT THE HILL YOU PROBABLY CAN'T HOOK ANYWHERE ELSE EITHER PERIOD!!.THIS IS COMING FROM A OUT OF TOWNER THAT HAS BEEN TO ALL THE TRACKS LIKE THE NASTY(navasota), SLIPPERY RIVER(temple), & HILLBILLY ROUGHCREEK(cedar creek). SO FIND ANOTHER EXCUSE BECAUSE THE TRACK WILL HOOK AT PRAIRIE HILL IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

Oh gosh, I am sure a lot of people do not have the experience that YOU seem to have, but I would expect that to even TRY to do the Nasty (Navasota) with past experience in a Slippery Creek (Temple) that one might struggle to have an enjoyable run in a Hillbilly's Rough Creek (Cedar Creek) without needing to see a doctor the morning after. The forecast calls for rain, so bring a raincoat or TWO.

Hey Guys, Maybe you should give this guy a break. Maybe "Southern Chicken" made a statement that sounded like a challenge that his chicken a## could not back up. Whoever heard of a chicken that couldn't "back that a## up" for a rooster to take what he's got coming? But him backing up what he implied might be a bigger challenge at Prairie Hill than at Ennis or other tracks. Besides, some dough-head called PH a "Back Alley Track" in the recent past. If Chicken What's his Name wants a fight for ET, then PH might be just the place to find a "back alley" fight for ET. I'll try to remember to bring my video camera to tape his run. I'll post it on "Thrills and Spills".

Let up a little?? Ha. Maybe he should have had his OWN motor in his car and had it running before he asked if we at the hill wanted some. We are always wanting a good race. He might lose,he might win, but he better cut a good light and not let off because he ain't gonna be all that like some people think. No doubt his car is nice and will be fast but we ain't SCARED so bring it.

Why would it be a bigger challenge at Prairie Hill? BECAUSE I have walked the tracks at Ennis, Bristol, Sonoma from start line to finish line and the rubber is consistant and continous. PH is a great track and all but it does not have the full distance rubber that some bigger tracks have. That is not a slight on PH. I like going there and watching all of the hard working people, racers and the interesting race cars but the racers are not depositing the rubber like at other tracks. From what I have seen, ANYONE with a REALLY fast car should be prepared to go skating after the first 100 feet or so. THAT'S why a full out effort at PH might be a little different than at other tracks. I wish all of the racers good luck, low ETs and safe runs.

Walk the track again? The last time I tried walking the track, I tripped over the offsets in the concrete and bruised my knees. If I do decide to try checking out the track again, I will be sure to roll my wheelchair REALLY slow. Does a wheelchair qualify as a RACECAR if I put chrome tailight lenses on it? How about that nitrous stuff? Maybe even CH3NO2.
I still think I hear some strange noises out in the distance. Sounds like "bock bock brr" to me.

If you are really in a wheelchair then I don't mean to poke fun of you. But on the other hand if you take your wheelchair down the track, line up with Mr Southern Mafia and see if he can beat you. What do you consider REALLY fast? You said any REALLY fast car would only be able to go 100 foot and then go skating. I assume you or Southern Mafia has had a car that would run faster than any one at Prarie hill that can make a pass since we don't skate. I for a fact know that Southern Mafia has never had a car faster than mine now. His new car might be but mine can make a pass right now and his?????? I will be glad to let him out run me if he can, right over all those joints and cracks in PH. Tell him to put a seat in the passanger side so you can ride and help put extra weight on the rear tires so he can hook past 100 foot. Maybe he should just let his daughter drive, she drives better than him anyway. If he still won't consider PH than how about Navasota? I have seen some low 4's out of doorcars there with no traction problems, or is he FASTER than that also?

I don't know for sure but I heard that the Southern Fried Chicken or whatever his name altered has run a 3.93 in the 1/8th mile at another track, so if your door car can do better than THAT, the mafia better LOOK OUT!!! I also have heard PH track held a 4.30.........but 3.93's????? I'll still bring my video camera for the Thrills and Spills episode on tv. Somebody just post what date and time this mafia guy will make his one attempt and I'll be there. AND, I am not real sure that this mafia guy's ride qualifies as a "Door Car" or a "Funny Car" with a skimpy altered body on it. I'd think the latter. After all, he does run NITROMETHANE. I doubt that you or anyone else runs nitro at "The Hill".

I guess this is where I got confused about which chicken the conversation was about. I just now realized there was more than one chicken at PH track. Here is copy and paste of the origination of the confusion on my part.

I am not real sure if the name of this guy's supercharged nitromethane hemi motored altered is "Southern Fried" or "Southern Fried Chicken" or just plain "Chicken" to run at Prairie Hill. Prairie Hill Dragway seems like a great track from watching the cars and dragsters run that I have seen. Heck, I have seen the Prairie Hill track hold 4.30's with no problem, so what's this guys's problem. Southern Chicken, show up and show us what you got (but bring your skate key). Hey, what's that sound I hear in the distance?? Sounds like Bock Bock to me.

sucky track conditions -- RACER(or at least trying to be), 16:32:14 10/26/08 Sun [6]

The racing would be alot better if they would spray the track more than just at the beginning. When you have all the fast cars skating so bad they are loading up it kinda sucks. I understand the weather plays a part but dragging only helps so much, VHT isn't that expensive is it?

[> Re: sucky track conditions -- Robbie, 17:43:39 10/26/08 Sun [1]

I think the track personell are doing every thing they can possibly do to keep it hookin. IMO I think they are doing better now than ever before. I heard Barry Poels ran a 4.32 last night.(NEW TRACK RECORD) When we got there around 6 the humidity was around 50%, the track had TEETH and by 10:00 pm it was close to 60%,which is the cause for the traction issues, and there is nothing that can be done when you get that much water in the air. RACER you are makin a bunch power and I know where you are coming from, it does suck, but I think the track personell have got it figured out pretty good. They are using plenty VHT and got a few other secret expensive ingredients that is causing records to fall and driveshafts to break. I wonder if Kenny Baker has been counting all of em?( got my trans case on july 4) We might be better off talking to Ken and seeing if he will open earlier, before the humidity sets in & hopefully the temperature will be manageable. They were having the same track issues at Ennis this weekend, track hooking like hell until the humidity set in then it was skate time.

[> [> Re: sucky track conditions -- RACER, 12:06:43 10/27/08 Mon [1]

I AGREE WITH ROBBIE ON THE CONDITIONS OF THE TRACK WHEN THE HUMIDITY GOES UP WE MAY HAVE TO MAKE OUR PASSES A LITTLE EARLIER DURING THE WINTER MONTHS BUT STILL HAVING FUN . AND IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DONATE A BARREL OF VHT TO KEN HE WILL SPRAY IT MORE COST 700.00 BARREL HE DOES THE BEST HE CAN.

[> Re: sucky track conditions -- Nova, 14:38:37 10/27/08 Mon [1]

This is the negative of cool weather and night racing. As Robbie said, when the humidity goes up along with the cool temperatures its like pouring water on the track from the accumulation of dew and low dense air. Granted I run the brackets and have a slower car made for the conditions, but I can account for at least a 3 hundreths loss in the 60ft and have to plan for it. This is the case at 3 other tracks I have run at with similar conditiions. For guys in solid chassis roadsters it gets even worse and is almost impossible to make a clean run. For door cars on gas I am impressed whenever I see one make it half-way down the track without igniting the tires and having to lift.

I would vote for opening up earlier, say 2 or 3. That way you could get 6 hrs in and it only be 8 or 9 instead of starting at 6 and ending at around 12.

36n32f is WAY too lean with 6 1/4 fuel pressure. Why are you staggering your jets so much? Have you tried with them squared up yet? Also why are you only running 34 total? Need more info, brand & heat range of plugs, comp ratio, octane & brand of fuel, type of ignition system, type of fuel system, hedder size open or closed exhaust, lobe sep of camshaft.
Cylinder temperature getting too high or detonation is probably is what is causing this. Send some more info

I heard some guy is building a fuel dragster with the specific intent of taking down the track record at the "Hill". The 4.70 something time is already a recent record but I am not sure the track will hold much more. Maybe some nitro motored top fuel dragster can make it happen. On the other hand, if the guru of chassis set-up can't hook up, who can? Good luck to all who try.
