I call bullshit. Why does there need to be a guardrail down the middle? No other track has one. You can't keep it in your lane or are you worried Wayne can't? I have seen fast(low 5's) cars on small slicks so that I would believe, but I have never seen one at PH so come on out and be the first. And Ollie, I will line up with yall next time we are out, I am like you, I would rather run someone faster or slower than go solo. I think I know who racer is but not positive so in case you are not who I think you are then I say you are full of shit. If you are who I think then Ha Ha. Oh and by the way, as far as slicks, mine are bigger than both of yalls lol.

you are right about the guard rail down the middle, it needs to be there, but its not Wayne or his car its mostly the slick track. Real high horsepower cars hardly ever make it down the track like they would at a real track. Prairie hill is fun and all, but very dangerious for five second cars. They need better traction all the way down. Also, it seems like once a month at the hill someone crashes!! There needs to be rules enforced for the safety of the drivers and spectators.

I just want to say that i have been to a lot of dragstrips over the years and I can truly say that me and my crew really have enjoyed coming out to the hill this year. Yall have a good program going on out there and one of the nicest owners you could ever meet. We have met a lot of good racers and nice people at the hill and the boys have had fun running the dragsters over there. We will be back a little later and try to go a little faster and yes it was a wild ride on the last pass.

i was wondering yall said he had a flat on the front tires , did any body notice if he pulled the wheels hard on that pass , i had the same issue with my car about two years ago and the problem was rubber valve stems, pulling the wheels up high and pressure of coming down popped out the valve stem the fix was bolt stems maybe thats not what happend but it did to me . just a suggestion to fellow racers that like wheelies.

Frank, I was at Wilmers house yesterday and saw the tires. The valve stems did not appear to be hurt.

Wilmer came by the shop Monday and ask what I thought about his tires or what I tought happen. The run the he made when the incident happen was the quickest pass he has ever made. What happen is that he got on the brakes a little to hard and the front tires locked up. The race tires hoosiers, goodyear, M/T all are very shallow ply tires and can not take hard braking. This caused the tires to blow out and got him out of control. SIDE

New Door Car Track Record -- Robert, 11:27:06 07/18/10 Sun [7]

What a night of racing we had. Richie Price set the track record for door cars at 4.920.The old record stood for several years set by Alford Whiteside with "THE DOG". Congratulations Richie and crew. If you folks dont know Richie take time to go by his pit and visit with him and his crew. A great bunch of guys.
Thanks to all our racers and fans you are the best and that is what makes "THE HILL" such a great place to be.
As the season wears on the points chase gets more exciting. Last night we saw the #1 and #2 points holders go out before the final and Clyde Hanie take the win with a wounded tranny 1st and high gears only. Congratulations Clyde

The track got better as the night went on. My Nova posted the best 60 ft it has ever had. Good job and thanks to the crew for prepping the track.

Richie's run was awesome. We were all up against the fence to make sure we had a clear view. So now we can brag and say we were there when the latest record was set.

That's cool news about Clyde's night. Kept figuring he was done when he'd be slow coming back down the return alley. But good to hear he managed to hang in there and finish on a good note!

We lasted as long as we could, but my oldest daughter and my sister both were asleep in the SUV so we had to head home. We all had a blast though! I asked my 3 year old if she was ready to go home, and she just kept saying "no, we go home when the races are over!" So Thanks to the crew at the Hill for another great night of racing!!

if you didnt know it was confirmed lastnight after the accident on the track with wilmer and the biker no cars vs. bikes anymore no matter what bike vs bike or bike solo no more matching car and bike. also im glad to say neither party involved in the wreck was hurt very bad wilmer was ok and the car stayed don all 4 it just blew the front tires out and made a left turn the biker laid the bike over to avoid hittting him and he scrapped his hand and his leg a little i think didnt get much chance to talk to him but both are aok and will return great job by the emt's they responded perfectly as well as the track crewthat just shows u how great phill is cant wait till i get mine together so i can run everyone. thanks for reading and supporting the hill. ollie

Thanks for posting that, Ollie! As last night demonstrated, too many things can go wrong with an unprotected body going up against a car at the speeds they run.

I agree that the EMT's did a fantastic job taking care of the situation. I'm glad they spend so many nights sitting down there doing nothing for the rare times they are needed!

Hi, I just wanted to tell everyone that came to the Car Show Thanks for the support. I also need to give Props to Christina, Mom, Tyler, Brenda, Chris, Rob & Vic, Robert, Cortney, Renie, Bubba, Johnny & Sandra, Nitro Dave, Alen, John B, and John G. for all their help.

I hope that everyone enjoyed it and understands that we had a few bumps due to it being the first one we have ever done ourselves. We plan on making it an annual event, but are gonna move it to Spring time. (Not as Freakin HOT)

We will have more Classes next year, Plaques for 1st & 2nd places, tents from folks that are dependable (unlike the ones that never showed this year), and event shirts.

A Big Thanks goes out to all the Vendors that Donated Prizes for the Show as well.

Pics will be posted on my site before the end of the day.

We had a great time. The prizes were great along with the food. I got to meet alot of new people and got to see a few I have not seen in a while. Finally a car show that features more than SHOW cars, not that I don't love cars that are so nice you don't want to even think about someone getting close to it but being into drag racing it is nice to show our stuff off also. I know my car ain't going to win an award but it is about showing off what you have and being proud of it plus just hanging out with everyone. The ratrod scene is pretty cool, would like to see more of those at the next one. I agree with the date, about 20 degrees cooler would be nice. Looking forward to the next one.

Just a heads up. John Goebel has Donated a Furnace Brazed, Billet Cover, Custom Built Torque Converter we will have a Drawing for at the Car Show on July 17th. This Converter will be built to the Winners application, not a shelf item. Tickets are $25.00 each or three for $50.00 Converter is valued between $800.00 and $1,000.00 depending on if it needs to be Spragless or not. Low ET Cars -- Racer_Jeff, 16:20:10 06/29/10 Tue [7]

Last Saturday was a heck of a low ET night. We had 4 cars within a tenth of each other. Ricky @ 5.64, Jesse @ 5.58, Me @ 5.57 and Wayne @ 5.56. I had a blast! I also wanted to thank all of the above mentioned for coming over to my pit and shaking my hand. Wayne especially. You were very gracious when you took the low time. I am looking forward to many other battles with these fellows...as well as Chris, Jon, & Ollie. I think the "Out of Towners" better bring everything they have if they want to beat us at our home track!

You are right Jeff, what a fun and exciting night. We need to get the others mentioned together and put on a show that will be hard to top. All you guys did a heck of a good job.

5.67 to a 4.86 big jump probably killed my 60`s & 1/8 mile times i was turning to many r`s crossing the 1/8 . the gears i put in it was what it had when got it so we will see, i think i need a 5.29 but you don`t no until you try see yall this weekend.

Glad to hear Rick fixed you up. As for the junkie NOS solenoid I loaned you....take it off. I have a brand new Super Pro Shot nitrous solenoid and a Cheater fuel solenoid you can use. I was going to put it on for this next weekend, but have decided to let my engine live a little longer! Call me and I will get them to you. And I have those .120 pills you wanted! Thats about 300 HP! Don't be skeeered!

Dragster at The Hill -- Barry aka Hemiracer1, 19:19:44 06/25/10 Fri [1]

Hey Yall, it was good to see five other dragsters at The Hill a couple of weeks ago. I think it is good for the track and good for the fans to see a mix of race cars, everything from street cars to door cars to dragsters, four wheelers, junior dragsters and whatever else anyone want to race. Good clean entertainment, good people and lots of dedicated racers and fans.
Just FYI: Since I run a blower motor, I have taken myself out of the low ET contest money. Most dragsters have a naturally aspirated motor, so to be fair, I am doing only exhibition runs as of right now so if you have a naturally aspirated dragster, nitrous included and looking for a track to run it at, the Hill is the place to be. The track is currently holding ET's of 4.40's in the 1/8.
BUT, if another racer with a blower motor shows up while I am there, I would again be in the contest for the low ET money and/or track record whether it be a dragster or a fuel altered, top fuel, funny car or whatever.
I plan on being at the track 6/26/10 AND 7/3/10 for anyone interested. See you at the track!!!

Well after the water issue(was going by the intake) I put the head back on and had no compression on one cylinder. It was going by the exhaust so pulled it and took it back to Precision and the valve was bent. They put a new valve in but John just happen to check the spring and it only had 140lbs seat pressure. After checking several that was the best one. I am getting new springs put on this week and will see how it goes from there. I would have came out and watched but the first Saturday this month I was out of town and last weekend was my 20 year H.S. reunion.

My car is not a show car but I will enter just to help out. It would be cool if all of the racers would enter their car to help bring in a crowd. It ends early enough to still make it to the track and you will allready have your car so their is no reason why we can't all make it. Those of you that know Blake know's he deserves our help, those of you who don't will just have to take my word. He has always went out of his way to help people at the track and away from the track.

Has anyone heard the condition of the driver of the green truck that crashed last night? That was by far the worst crash I have seen at The Hill in years. Anyone have any pics of the truck after the crash?

The driver had minor injuries visible and was transported via ambulance as a precaution. The probability of internal injuries is high in collision such the on he was in, but, at that time he was transported, he was in good spirit and appeared to be in good condition/

Talked to Jim (driver of green s10 that crashed) and he is doing fine.....went to work on Sunday.......has broken rib and is bruised but said he will return to race again, just not in that truck. It was good to hear his voice and his laugh.

Hey all, I work on the ambulance many of you see each weekend at the track. I have a 1964 Fairlane 500, 4dr, with the factory drivetrain (260ci V8, 2spd trans) that needs a home. The body is straight with only a couple of dings along the side. All of the original parts are there except for the front seat and a couple of hoses. The car ran when it was parked 5 yrs ago but needed a timing chain cover and a motor mount. I would like to see it go to someone who will do it right, and not just let it sit like I have done. I believe it's called Desert Thunder Raceway. It's an 1/8 mile track, and it's up at around 3600 ft elevation. I know a couple of guys that raced there opening weekend, they said the track surface was pretty slick, the second electronics car down the track went head on into the wall. It's been resurfaced and in good shape now according to my buddies. Supposed to be a nice facility.

Who won the low ET,and the Brackets. It was a good turn out very empressed and glad to see the turn out. Lots of new cars with a little time and more people getting envolved the track will do alot better and grow. The racers need to get more classes other than brackets and at a certian time only alow slicks on the track I have seen it done before and alot of racers like it.

This was my last street legal fast car, took it to little river & ran 8.88 in the 1/4 then took it home and drove it to HEB to get some groceries. mmmm this might get interesting.

That looks like a race car with tags & a sticker. I though this was a real street car class. I know a lot of race cars with tags & sticker. You will get a lot more cars if You have a daily driver street legal race.

That was after I sold it Moose. I crashed it at Navasoto then fixed it and sold it. Your right it was a race car with tags and sticker, but I think I was the first in Waco to run 8's and cruise on the streets. That was in 1995. One of the fastest I've seen at the hill is a white Chevy truck with a turbo and he drives it out there.

You going to try the 5.80 index race? I think Chris and I are going to. Richie Price has a couple of cars that are going to enter as well. I have never raced an index race, but it sounds like fun.

i might try the 6.50 class my car only ran as fast as 5.89 one time on 275 shot i like to let it live it is a stock 400 blk i can run 6.76 on mtr maybe with a 150 shot it a run 6.50 don`t no will try it this weekend

I will be at the Texas Motorplex this weekend for the Super Chevy Show along with Matt(blak truk pilot) and crew. I hope I can find some racers as good as the ones at The Hill! Ya'll save me a spot for next weekend. And Ollie, save a race for me. I hope I can keep up.

Sounds like it was directed at me. This person seems to be mad at the world. I had a good time at the Motorplex, but tore up a tranny. I am gonna try to get it fixed and be at the Hill next weekend. I did run into Richie Price and he said he is bringing every car and dragster he and his team has. It ought to be one heck of a night.

It did not produce a very good time. This is the pass I think I hurt it on. Took everything to John Goebel and he tore it down for me. Turns out the convertor took a dump. He said he will have me ready to race this weekend.

I see a dominator and a 2" spacer and a solenoid and line that looks like it is held up by the return springs, but I don't see no plate. I think someone is just goofing off.

I'm putting my Camaro back together and I am looking for some sponsors. I have drag raced for 30 years without any sponsorship. I had a partner once and that didn't work out well for me. You can be a silent sponsor if you wish or I can advertise for you, I currently have no names on my car or trailer. I haven't raced the Camaro since Nov 08,but it still is in excellent condition with the exception of the engine needing freshening which is under progress. I'm not asking for a lot of money, just a little help. If no one wants to sponsor a car someone please step up and put up some more money or gifts for the low ET and bracket racers. Ken and the track personell have shown that they are dedicated and can do an excellent job of keeping the track hooking and everything else running well. Ken does everything he can to pay the racers as much as possible. Waco needs this track and the racers need a little more incentive to keep their racing operations affordable and fun. This can happen with help from the fans and racers by communicating with local business owners and anyone that would like to help. There has got to be some sponsorship here in Waco somewhere, we just have to find it. I've been to many tracks through the years and there is always money or gifts put up for various things like the best reaction time, fastest car, fastest woman driver, fastest street car, best wheelie, best burnout, best looking car , ect. I will be talking to all the businesses that I purchase parts through for my shop and also some of the businesses that I work on their vehicles. I'm asking all the racers and fans to do the same, talk to who you work for and anyone that might be interested in helping. If we can get more prize money or gifts, whether it be merchandise or services offered, I believe that things will get better and more cars will start coming out, like me. For instance, let's say a carpet cleaning company will give a free carpet shampoo for the longest burnout, I bet we will see some long burnouts. You can laugh if you want, it's just an example.
