A special thanks to all those feiseanna that offer slow speeds for adults. Thumbs down to those that don't. I was looking at attending a feis specifically in the southern region and was sad to note no slow speeds for adults. It's not just my dollars, it is my friends' who compete as well as my family members. This rule has driven a lot of adults into "and overs" and this continued ban on slow speeds for adults may perpetuate that trend as opposed to stopping it.

Date Posted: 18:00:57 05/01/12 Tue

I have a batch of new music this year! A new CD of the most common feis tunes and the ceili dances (long enough for a real ceili, not just a competition!) called Feis Favorites, the two new set dances "The Charlady" and "Vanishing Lake", and music from my CDs with the speeds changed for open platform feis dancers on a CD roughly called "WIDA grades 1-10". Everything is available on iTunes, CD Baby, Amazon, or my site. If you haven't heard my music yet, it's the most traditional-Irish sounding available for feis dancers. You can also order any tune at any speed from my site.
Happy Dancing!

My mum Eliza Conway was from Co.Wicklow, Dunlavin, and she told me when she was a young girl, she did Irish Dancing, and won Medals etc., for her dancing. this was a very long time ago, in the twenties. I never thought to ask her when she was alive, about her dancing. she learnt me to dance as a young girl, and to speak the.Irish language. but sadly all i can do now is count to 6.! Anyway what I want to ask is "Where or how could I find out the records of the dancing from the twenties, Did they keep records of the people who won cups and medals etc., I am doing the family tree, and should love to put all the info into my book. " I hope that someone will answer me.
I live in England. way down in the south west.

P.s. my mum left Eire. and came to England.. married a english man. but her maiden name was conway, and her married name Barrett. my Dad was C of E, but I am RC and my son is. she never lost her faith. I do hope you can help.

I would like to introduce the launch of my new website www.irishdancingdress.com for dancers who need an easy and quick way to sell your Irish dancing dresses.

I am a mother of three girls and I know the high cost of dancing in competitions. I needed a cheap and easy way to sell my Irish dancing dress each year and found all the other websites too confusing. I could not find any website that specialised in selling dresses that was cost effective. So I did what all good people do in recessionary times, they build their own!

I aim to keep the cost of the listing to an absolute minimum so that it is accessible to everyone.

I hope it will be of great use to people.

If anyone has questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards
Eileen Power

Hello there

We are a Belfast based TV Production company, currently working on a documentary series on Irish Dance.

We are looking for dancers/dress-makers/parents/teachers etc who own very expensive Irish Dance dresses.

Do you or someone you know own an Irish Dance dress that when being made 'money was no object'? How much did it cost? Who made it? What was so unique about it?

Please get in touch if you are interested in appearing in the documentary series ASAP.

Kind regards

I used to dance competitively (at the Championship level) but stopped when I was 15 after my teacher moved. Now I am 23 and am moving to Colorado where there are plenty of schools I could join. However, I have been out of the dance world for nearly 8 years and know nothing about adult dancing. Do you wear the costumes and wigs? Is it competitive? Is it mainly figures? The only adults I knew who danced were a few of my friends parents who were at the beginner level so anything you can tell me would be a great help!

Hey, I've been looking for a good Ceili team (or alternatively, an awesome class with the potential to create a team) but Google hasn't given me much luck!

The team would have to be based in London, UK. Additionally, if anyone knows of any adult classes running in the same area I'd love to hear about it. Preferably west or east London. I've been to the Delaney Academy and they're great, but I can't make the Tuesday adult class anymore as I help teach a class at my university at the same time.

Thanks! =)
