In reply to: 's message, "I need to add that I was told by people who were there that parents of other contestants went directly up to the Winters' to complain that the excluded teen deserved one of the crowns. Apparently, the Winters' stated there was nothing they could do about that. Bull!" on 15:10:12 02/22/16 Mon

Once and for all this needs to be settled. There was absolutely NO 'secret' meeting. But there was a parent meeting the night before where it was explained that teens may go at the cost of the parents/ family and if anyone was interested they should contact the director. The 'other' teen's family briefly left the meeting and/or was possibly not focused on the meeting while there.
When the teens were crowned at the reception (they were all heading back home/ out of town) it was stated again, "at the parents' cost". Sashes and Crowns have always been ordered previously of the pageant and when the 'numbers' aren't there - there is a possibility to appoint additional teens for their opportunities. Ive witnessed some appointed as doing better at state then those crowned. Not saying this is always the case but has happened.
Second of all.... Amelia was allowed to only compete for the Closed pageants of which she qualified for per MAO rules. And she was not the only one that might have been seen in the video and since the video didn't work - it really was not at all an issue. All judging was complete except for the evening gown due to the need to bring down the screen prior - or not at all. Yes, the judges were aware of her previous title and technically from a judge's point of view - they probably expected more from her. ALL of her scores were already out of the judges' hands except for the evening gown. And she delivered! Let this rest once and for all.
