Ms. Hatfield served as Miss Illinois 2007, and as a result of the scholarship awards she received from participating in the Miss America program, she obtained a Master of Science degree in Communications Disorders and started her career debt-free. She made the Chancellor’s List, graduated Cum Laude, and now works as a speech language pathologist in the Illinois Department of Human Services. Under Ashley Hatfield’s leadership, the Miss Illinois Organization is poised to continue providing scholarship awards for contestants at the state and local levels, as well as empowering young women to strive for scholastic excellence and to serve as positive role models throughout the state of Illinois. Being awarded the state license is probably Ashley's payback for not rocking the boat during the 9 years of Amalia's reign of terror. We know MAO doesn't like whistle blowers, even when they keep the information within the four walls of MAO. Ashley certainly went out of her way to stay on Amalia's good side. This is a positive move for the program and has absolutely nothing to do with Amalia. You can believe whatever makes you feel better, but if you can't be supportive, please feel free to move on. But I'm also willing to give Ashley a fair chance to succeed, as long as she treats the contestants, titleholders and volunteers with respect, which has been missing from this program for the last nine years.
