In reply to: 's message, "ISA is now refusing to pay Crystal's airfare to Miss America" on 09:50:47 08/23/15 Sun

I doubt that you imagined that Crystal actually had friends. Her friends were
more than willing to make donations for her airfare. NO, she shouldn't have to pay her own airfare. No previous Miss Illinois had to. Her donations came from caring friends, so no need to attempt to tie this to ISA! Crystal has no access to ISA funds. Her supporters stepped up and paid for the party. Crystal could be a tightrope walker, but it wouldn't be good be good enough because she is from Southern Illinois. You can't deal with that. Leave her alone, please! She has been a victim of all the unrest. For the life of me, I don't understand why anyone would want to compete in a pageant if they read the Voy boards.

The cruel, mean-spirited derogatory comments on here for the last few months have finally shown me that I don't want to come back to volunteer. I never truly realized how nasty our organization can be. (NT)No name08:06:41 08/28/15 Fri

I'm not sure what your point is here. It is specifically because her funds aren't associated w/ISA, & because she has access to her money, that Crystal can afford to pay for her own ticket. All the previous formers had to wait for their money, including that collected in their name at their send off, to be doled out at AS's discretion. For this reason & many others, other formers & their families paid a lot more out of their pockets during their tenure than Crystal's family is being asked to do. Crystal is not the victim. She's the lucky one. She has a lot more support than others have had, a lighter schedule & she doesn't have to deal w/AS. Also no one is bothered that she's from SoIL. Quit coddling her. This is a program for independent, dynamic young women. She wanted this position, let her accept the responsibilities (good & bad) that go w/it. Out of curiosity, what do you think people believed they were donating that money for if not her expenses? It wasn't her birthday party. (NT)No name08:38:06 08/28/15 Fri
