I don't think this hobby is about "restoring" a 1995 Caprice or a 97 Crown Victoria. That is not restoring, it is re-equipping. As such, I don't believe that shows should be open to cars less than 15 years old. Even that is cutting it close. And anything less than 25 years old should be clearly marked as a show car while driving it to shows. As well, the lights should be covered.

And daily drivers? They should not only be banned from shows, they should be discouraged as being even considered a part of this hobby. Decking out a late model car with a billion strobes, dash lights, prisoner cage, camera, etc. is about as close to impersonating as you can get. THAT is what will give this hobby a black eye.

All that being said, I do find it amusing that police agencies sell their old cars, some still containing equipment like spots and push bars, and then cry about impersonators driving around in "unmarked" cars.

And the bottom line is, impersonators or terrorist don't need a police package to make a car look like a police car. A 97 white Grand Marquis bought from Grandpa will work just as well when the right equipment is added to them.

Great, here goes another piece of our freedoms. Ban daily drivers. What's next? Ban all restored white police cars, because white is too close to reality? Most current squads are white, remember? And you sure do forget that when the hobby started, most in the hobby started out with daily drivers that were then restored. But maybe you are not in the hobby and wouldn't know much about it?Giant09:39:40 08/28/02 Wed

Yeah, daily driver, that means put lots of antennas and lights on the rear deck so everyone thinks your something your not, or as a total squirrel said @ a show last year " everybody thinks I'm a cop" (NT)Frank W09:44:33 08/28/02 Wed
