Kalya walked in, taking her time and enjoying the wonderful ambience that surrounded the Hatching Grounds. She nodded to Kylith and Jeneth, and sat down next to the Sands, trailing her fingers through the sand, drawing patterns.

She looked up and saw two new Candidates. A boy, that's good. she thought. Until this one, there had been none, and that didn't offer a lot of choice for the male dragons, bronzes and browns especially, since they could only choose boys.

Kalya looked down the corridor, waiting for her friends Channa and Wessae to come back onto the sands. When would the eggs hatch? She looked at them longingly, here she was, at the place of her wildest dreams, and she was being impatient! She laughed quietly, and stood up, leaning against the wall to wait for her friends.
