Subject: How many times have I done this to myself? <^> =Friends=
In reply to: Talla & Mylanith, Stanza, Chapter, Verse 's message, ">Yay, friends!<" on 00:17:43 08/25/05 Thu

How long will it take before I see?

Tr’ln gave a small smile at the acceptance, and brought True to the chairs, pushing one out for her and then seating himself between the two girls. He was suddenly alot more relaxed that he was back at the mere prospect of sitting with Talla; now that it was actually happening, he just needed to be friendly. And that just came naturally to Tr’ln most of the time, all bragging aside.

True smiled a little more warmly as she sat down to hear Talla compliment her Zairith. She was surprised to find her smile genuine, even if she had resented Tr’ln’s feelings toward the goldrider. “Thanks,” she said in a small voice, seeming a little more relaxed now that a comfortable subject had fought its way through the barrier of True’s insecurity.

Did she just call me pretty? Zairith asked, eyes shining. Every time True turned to look at her, she had to stifle a laugh at the sweet child-like quality the dragon would show in voice, posture, and the outsized eye-to-face ratio.

‘Yes, Zair. I assume she means golds aside, however.’

Oh.
Zairith thought for a moment, her eyes swirling a mix of colours with her thoughts. True picked up on a feeling of insecurity, and smiled at her dragonling, perhaps the first actual smile since Tr’ln had mentioned Talla and her hormones had nearly killed her in an effort to make Talla look like the bad-guy, which in actuality was a vain attempt.

‘Baby, don’t worry. You’re better than any gold. They’re just so vain that their rider needs to keep telling them they’re beautiful, though you better not tell them I said that.’ She reached a pale hand to her green, and stroked the eye-ridge with the exact movements that would bring maximum joy. She mentally thanked Tr’ln for letting her have previous experience with dragons from Lat.

The green crooned. So... you don’t want Kamariath more than me? She was, of course, referring to the queen from their clutch, the one who’d Impressed to Letimira.

True had a look like she’d been slapped. ‘No, baby... I love you.’ She heard the mental satisfaction of the green, and shook the dreamy-look from her eyes to join Talla and Tr’ln back in the real world, incidentally at about the same time Talla did.

While the two girls were out in la-la-land, Tr’ln had nothing to do but wait until the four girls were done speaking with their respective partners. Wondering slightly, he reached out, and found Lat’s mind, the brown finally waking from an extra-long nap.

Where are you? Lat asked, and Tr’ln felt the mentality behind the large yawn the dragon gave. Tr’ln chuckled softly.

‘Hatching Feast, heart. I’m down with Talla and True. You slept through the Impression, and True happens to have a greenling called Zairith.’

Oh. So you’re with your two favorite women.

‘What’s that supposed to mean?’

Nothing, nothing...

When will this hole in my heart be mended?

Tr’ln snapped back, a little before the other two. He gave a small laugh when both girls returned to the real world.

“Small world, I guess. Lat just woke up, and I had to assure him I hadn’t died.” He smiled warmly, and turned to True. “And I believe you were speaking to Zairith?”

“She wanted to be reassured of something.” True shrugged. She was thankful when Talla changed the subject, and even gave a small laugh. Smirking slightly to Tr’ln, she gave him a look that said, ‘Oh, don’t worry, I won’t say anything that isn’t true’. Of course, that had been a small joke between them. “I’ll tell what’s true”; “Of course you will, you’re True”.

“Yeah, he’s told me alot. But don’t belittle yourself,” she gave a small laugh. “You’re not too boring.” She smiled at the wink, and looked down to try to re-compose herself. A small creature in her stomach was roaring disapproval of actually having a nice conversation with her, while another part was saying, ‘Well, she can’t be too bad... Tr’ln likes her, so she’s probably nice.’

Tr’ln smiled, and nodded to the two flits. “They’re sweet.” He reached out, and softly put a hand on Chapter’s stomach and back, rubbing softly in a way that normally helped Agust to sleep when she’d gorged.

True laughed softly so as not to disturb the sleeping flits. However, she was instantly out of her seat, arm out, as brown flit flew to her, and perched on her outstretched arm. Old enough to be considered an adult flit, the brown chirped to his girl happily, and True sank back in her chair, stroking the brown neck softly.

“Hey, Spirit,” she said softly, a loving tone in her voice that had never been used in reference with a human. “Where’s Reign?” Instantly, the brown sent her images of the green out over the heights, starting her first mating flight. True chuckled.

“Sorry,” she apologized to the other two. “I’ve just been informed that my green’s in her first flight. Well, today certainly is full of surprises.” She let Spirit down on the table, and he nibbled at one of her meatballs hungrily but daintily, as if trained not to eat messily. Tr’ln laughed.

“Congratulations to Reign, then.” He said brightly.

However, Reign was not the only visitor, for a few moments later, a small chirp announced the arrival of the small greenling, Agust, who was barely able to fly, let alone travel by herself from the Weyrling Barracks. She gave a squawk, and Tr’ln had to get up and catch her as she tangled a wing with her foreleg painfully. He gently untangled his baby flit’s wing, and brought her to his shoulder, where she grabbed with all her strength onto the pad he’d put for her purpose. She wrapped her diminutive tail around his neck, and laid back, closing her eyes as she recovered from the long flight. She opened one eye, and chirped a greeting to Talla, then another to True. After that, she refused to be moved.

“Agust...” Tr’ln shook his head. “Crazy little thing, really. Can’t even fly properly, and she knows it... anyway,” he looked up at Talla. “How’ve things been with you and Mylanith?”

Who now is left alone but me?

((Heh. Told you my next one would be better, now that I’m using my old strategy; copy all the posts I need to reply to, and right said reply offline, where I have all the time in the world...))
