Question is in the title. I do believe that a kid can develop a very close bond to the one punishing them this way. I never felt abused. The ritual and ceremony are what made it all stick, beginning a dependency on the sessions. Maybe looking forward to them. I have to much respect and admiration for this strong independent woman when I needed that kind of grown up in my life. I did not understand that then. Changed my life. Saved my life. Despite all the stuff out there that says we were abused. We darn well know we were not.
