The Lafayette Maroon Club, an organization dedicated to supporting Lafayette athletics, has indicated overwhelming support for athletic scholarships in a recent survey conducted within its ranks.

According to Club President Laurie Samet '79, of those who responded to the survey, the sentiment was surprising.

"I am amazed at the response that we got," said Samet. "People were not just saying yes or no, but gave paragraphs or pages of responses. There was not only quantity, but quality."

The survey asked if Lafayette should offer "a limited number of scholarships". The Lafayette Board already voted this past October to offer only need-based aid to student-athletes. (NT) Rambacker 08:58:37 03/27/05 Sun

Re: I think the Lafayette approach is similar to that of Bucknell and Colgate, where a set number of scholarships are offered across all sports with the exception of football. Bucknell's scholarship program is like Lehigh's, not Colgate. Colgate and American are the only PL schools to offer scholarships in sports besides BB (except Lehigh wrestling, which is non PL).
