All A-10 and CAA 1-AA Football schools are expected to consolidate under the CAA banner, starting in 2007. This league will continue to be the top 1-AA full scholarship conference in the country. A great group of schools including William and Mary, Delaware, Villanova, Richmond, etc. The league would welcome Fordham with open arms. This is a great opportunity for Fordham. Check the A-10 Basketball Message Board for a story on this latest development.

"The league would welcome Fordham with open arms" -- according to who? (NT)bfg15:09:36 03/01/05 Tue

There's an interesting discussion going on about this at the "Any Given Sunday" I-AA board (http://www.anygivensaturday.com/cgi-bin/board/cutecast.pl?session=Y9A8ZwmtveqK4NBcmmFOQfU6Gb&forum=4&thread=9062). The interesting part is the discussion of whether or not some schools will splinter off and try to form their own league. How does a Catholic league with FU, Villanova, Georgetown & Holy Cross, for starters, sound? (NT)PA Ram15:21:40 03/01/05 Tue

Just wondering if the A-10 is the strongest 1AA conference out there. Isn't the Big Sky w/ Montana and those schools usually competitive on a national scale. How about the southern conferences, what conference has the most championships as of late? (NT)FU '0415:25:44 03/01/05 Tue

How does this jibe with the post above regarding Richmond and the PL? (NT)Jimbo CBA'7210:45:52 03/02/05 Wed

Here's a link to an article that states the A-10's commissioner said "Bruno said she won’t pursue creating a new A-10 with basketball members like Fordham moving their football teams to the conference" ... doesn't sound to me like they're "welcoming us with open arms"!
