First, if we were overall below 925, we wouldn't be able to replace him and would feel the pinch by his poor academic performance. Second, actions like that help to drag down our overall numbers and reinforce the importance of not only recruiting great athletes, but also good people/students. Plus, our overall #'s are good in comparison with most schools but it would certainly be nice to not see us near the bottom of the PL rankings. Just my .02. They assign a point for each of these variables over both semesters and then figure the percentage for the entire squad. 925 has been determined by the NCAA as equivalent to a 50% graduation rate if continued for 4 years and, thus, the break point for future scholarship penalties. It does include the four guys who left Fordham without graduating which is why it is so low. The Basketball team was at 1000 after fall semester this year. Our target schools, Boston College and Notre Dame, were tied at 32. Beside Martin and DK, the guys on probation will also lower next year's score for the football squad.
