We have blown at least two ( 2 ) golden opportunities to start a D-I lacrosse program. Patriot League wanted us and then, Manhattan took a spot in another conference and ended up in tournament with huge national exposure in just three ( 3 ) years.

With new field turf, this is a NO BRAINER. Lacrosse plays @ 8 home games, thats it. Recruiting would be minimal in cost, it would entail getting in your car and driving to Chaminade, St. Anthony's , Holy Trinity, Bishop Kellenberg
Ward Melville and Massapequa.

Lacrosse is a great fit. Baseball is dismal right now, although it has a long history at Fordham, nobody ever goes to the games.

Lacrosse is doable, would give unprecedented national exposure and the combination of talent within arms reach in Long Island & Westchester , with our academic reputation, makes this a win-win.

Its high time. No excuses, do it. 3 years we are a national force, yes, it could happen THAT quickly.

I am neutral as to lacrosse, however, what we do not need is yet another sport that is initiated and then left to fend for itself. Only recently did the fball program become respectable and now we are on the way to respectability in basketball. Only the administration knows why we need to have an interim coach in baseball, Women's basketball is a train wreck. These are sports that supposedly the administration is paying attention to. That's just plain wrong. We have sports that nobody ever goes to see such as baseball and really, few care about. Squash, Tennis, Rowing are all just going through the motions. A football-lacrosse season ticket package would work. A berth in tournament would be possible within 3 years. Our athletic department, sans football is moribound. Nobody cares about lacrosse. I'm sure its a game that is fun for you and you enjoy playing it... but nobody else cares. Adding lacrosse would hurt Title IX compliance, take money away from existing athletic programs that already have limited budgets, and nobody would care about lacrosse anyway. Syracuse averaged 36,573 last year and numbers were comparable for other local teams. Get a clue, do some research then sit in stands with 5 other fat guys and watch Fordham baseball while the coach milks us for another year on disability. (NT) -- Lax, 11:40:46 01/22/05 Sat

Syracuse averaged about 5,000 a game last year, not 36,573. That was there total attendance for the season. Get YOUR facts straight before you post. And that is the national championship school drawing that. And Fordham could get ranked nationally in that sport... you're right... cuz there are only like 50 friggin programs in the country! I would downgrade squash, tennis, track and field. I'd actually do more to promote soccer and baseball due to their worldwide popularity and the fact that they're major sports in NY metro area. I would be willing to entertain lacrosse if it was done right. I would think cheerleading and volleyball as sports would be a good thing for Title IX compliance.
