In reply to: Rambacker 's message, "At their current funding levels, don't expect Holy Cross or Georgetown to be successful soon. Both programs are underfunded. I'd like to see Fordham, Holy Cross and Georgetown go full scholarship 1-AA and compete with Nova, William and Mary, Richmond, Delaware, etc. The scholarships would ensure a level of quality that will excite alums and students and give us a chance to go deep into the playoffs." on 10:41:49 11/28/04 Sun

FY 2004 operating expenses from PL schools shows that Holy Cross is only 10% off or so from Fordham's budget (stats courtesy US Dept of Education database):

1. Colgate: $3,277,347
2. FORDHAM: $3,255,639
3. Holy Cross: $2,938,306
4. Lehigh: $2,735,715
5. Bucknell: $2,500,396
6. Lafayette: $2,461,679
and..
7. Georgetown: $1,164,010

Now here's another statistic that gives pause--the average athletic aid per male student-athlete, across all sports:

1. Colgate: $16,347.01
2. FORDHAM: $15,350.48
3. Bucknell: $14,744.89
4. Lehigh: $11,436.86
5. Lafayette: $10,091.20
6. Holy Cross: $7,815.03
and...
7. Georgetown: $5,319.20 (and that includes full scholarship programs in basketball, track, and lacrosse.)

Is your suggestion that the rest of us feel sorry for or chip in for poor (often arrogant and condecending) Georgetown? (NT)As you sow. . .17:11:23 11/28/04 Sun

The average per male athlete aid amount for Holy Cross and Georgetown is amazingly low. How the hell can you compete. Full schollies in football at the 1-AA level would solve the problem for Georgetown and Holy Cross. Georgetown, Holy Cross and Fordham should all make the move. (NT)Rambacker22:05:07 11/28/04 Sun
