Subject: I agree with you completely. I had to pay a portion of my tuition and I saw really good players and starters paying full tuition while scrubs got free rides, book money, and so on. It really does suck. The need based system is why we lost Mike Kne who started as a freshman on O-line. He transferred to Ohio State and is now on the second team and playing some. Our O-line from 2001 -2004 would have been a lot better with him

In reply to: #17 's message, "NEED BASED AID drives me crazy.. it favors low income student athletes..if 2 hs seniors of equal intelligence and playing ability are looked at by FU..low income player more inclined to come..if plyr 1 parents can afford 12,500..FU will pick up other 12,500...but if player 2 parents can afford 0$ ..FU will pay full 25,000k similar to full ride and plyr 2 more likely to accept..it seems more logical for a PL coach to go after low income stdnt athletes..I wish FU would go A10 and full rides period. DAD is FDNY so no silver spoon.." on 20:49:13 11/30/04 Tue

If I’m not mistaken, Mike Kne’s financial aid package was reduced after his freshman year because his family’s financial situation changed, which happens when dad gets a promotion, or a stay-at-home mom gets a job, or a sibling graduates from college, or a parent gets a higher-paying job, or a parent gets a second (i.e., part-time) job, etc. I agree…the need-based system sucks.
