Subject: MISS EGYPT'S CHANCES

So Miss Universe is tomorrow and this year there will be a Top 20! I really think that is a generous year as there used to be a Top 10 only 4 years ago (the way I prefer).

Anyways, with 5 extra spots I truly think that anyone who doesn't make the cut now doesn't really deserve to, as 20 semi-finalists has been the highest ever and really opens the door.

Fawzeya won the title of Miss Egypt on April 18th, 2006 and quite frankly after that night NO ONE REALLY ADVERTIZIED HER TO THE WORLD. I saw her: a) Miss Egypt headshot, b) her winning reaction photo, and c) a picture of her in some Egyptian fashion show and that was it. Three photos....Compare that to the 100s of photos Mexico and Puerto Rico had. Fawzeya had more than 2 months to prepare for Miss Universe (where as past Miss Egypts only had a few weeks) yet MORE was done for past Miss Egypts than Fawzeya, which strikes me as odd.

I really don't know how Fawzeya felt in L.A. because THIS SITE AND MESSAGE BOARD WERE FROZEN FOR ABOUT A MONTH.

There were rarely any candid photos of her available as the more extraverted delegates got the attention of the photographers.

Her initial interview showed us how shy she is. It was nice to hear her speak in English but I would've hoped for some extra spunk like Heba El-Sisi.

Her national costume was pretty but I didn't get it. I thought that was her evening gown at first until someone told me it was her national costume. Heba had a stunning costume and Meriam had a nice one too (really symbolic)...I didn't get why Fawzeya had a plain one.

The one area Fawzeya shines in is her body! VERY SLIM, GREAT HEIGHT AND WELL TONED! She had no hesitation to where a two-piece bikini and that showed confidence.

I think Face2Face made an EXCELLENT choice in picking Fawzeya's gown! AWESOME COLOUR, GREAT FABRIC, NOT TO ETHNIC AND IT FITTED HER LIKE A GLOVE! IT WAS TRULY A RUNWAY DRESS, WHICH IS WHAT MUO LOOKS FOR! HER GOWN WAS MY SECOND FAVOURITE GOWN BEHIND MISS POLAND'S DRESS! Fawzeya's catwalk during this portion also showed how good she is as a model. If she makes the Top 10 and has to compete in her gown PLEASE LET HELL NOT TO HOLD THAT PINK SCARF as it is distracting. The gown by itself is stunning enough!

I now want to ask if Face2Face tried to copy Sarah Shaheen's experience in Puerto Rico during MU 2001 with Fawzeya. Simple national costume, pink dress...I just saw the similarites, that's all! =)

With the war occuring between Israel and Lebanon, I'm pretty sure neither of those 2 countries will be included in the Top 20. I hope Egypt isn't cut out due to this too, just because Egypt is a neighbouring country. I also mentioned before that MUO usually selects semi-finalists based on regional/continental areas. The African continent this year is somewhat stronger than past years but not the best region. Ghana is the media favourite (only because she is tall because her face isn't that appealing.) and Angola, Ethiopia and Namibia are pretty but not standouts. I hope MUO reserved at least 2-3 spots for Africa in the semis and if they do I wouldn't be surprised if Egypt makes it. Her gown presentation alone should've garnered her very high marks.

I think if Egypt happens to make the Top 20 we won't be able to see her evening gown as only the advanced top 10 get to showecase their gowns and this year the delegates all have AMAZING bodies. But getting into the Top 20 would be good enough.

I hope Faweya has a great time and enjoys every second of it. I also hope that when she come back to Egypt she or someone else can update the fans on how she felt during the competition. We were all here supporting her but our messages weren't posted!

As of right now, Fawzeya is in my personal Top 20 depite the lack of publicity Face2Face made.

Although I feel that Heba El-Sisi is still the strongest Miss Egypt to compete in Miss Universe, I think that with a Top 20, there are bound to be some surprises but we'll just have to wait and see.

Good luck!
