I thought I'd also share information on Miss India 2005, the contestants have been listed on the website www.feminamissindia.com there are 24 candidates this year who will be officially announced Monday March 7th. This year there is one model who is the early favorite Indrani Dasgupta, a few other relatively well known models like Priyanka Jha and Shivani Sabhiki are competing as well. There are I believe 2 Muslim contestants as well, Shamshad Begum and Hufriya Bhandivala. Shamshad is an early favorite for one of the smaller contests as many fans are hoping Indrani will win India Universe or World. I am a bit concerned about what the ideals of this competition are--is it about finding the right girl who represents Egypt and serves her country to the best of her capabilities, or is about filtering out the prettiest Egyptian models into this one contest heavily based on superficiality and appearance? Even with appearance, i feel like their is some inappropriate level of sex appeal highlighted in the girls...It's one thing to be beautiful,and it's another to be overtly sexy. Sexy is nice, but it's not for everything. I was on the Miss Universe 2004 website a while ago and I checked out Hiba's interview...I won't comment on the girl because we clearly are all entitled to our individual opinions, but I do want to comment on the preparation or rather the mis-preparation of her. I think you guys ought to focus a little more on how the girls present themselves, and what they choose to say, for representing a country is not merely the act of parading around on a stage in a bikini or soiree dress, but it's about being charismatic, well-informed, confident and politically correct about the words that come out of one's mouth. Subject: MISS EGYPT GOWNS Author: Aiden [Edit] Date Posted: Saturday, February 12, 01:18:38pm Hi, I am a HUGE fan of Miss Egypt and I wish all of the past, present and future delegates much success! But I have noticed something about the evening gowns that are chosen for these women to wear during competition. Firstly, these gowns are very unique. In a year where there were many dress duplicates (ex. Australia Universe and Poland Earth) no one I saw had dresses like Heba at Miss Universe/World, Dina at Miss International, or Arwa at Miss Earth. But I must say that I think Arwa's was the best gown because it doesn't look too ethnic. I think Egyptian dresses are SUPERB! But the ethnic flare in gowns don't go over too well. Remember the beautiful Miss Switzerland at MU 2004? She wore an gold, embroidered, Indian sari type gown and didn't do too well. Other unique gowns, like Turkey, Lebanon, Bahamas, France, Czech Republic all looked cool but didn't do so well in terms of marks. Heba's dress at Miss Egypt: I L-O-V-E this dress. So unique and quite busy but busy and complicated in a good way. Almost an au couture feeling. The wrist band was ultra mod and chic as well! But this dress would not have gotten good results at MU/MW. Dina Adel's gown @ Miss Interntional: It suits her lovely frame. The leather boustier with the elegant flowers is an interesting contrast. This dress is almost too avant-garde/unique to be given high marks at an interntional pageant. Arwa Gouda's gown @ Miss Earth: Here is a classic, simple black dress that wrapped around Arwa's sexy body like a glove. The flower added spontaneity but didn't over-complicate the gown's construction. Very nice! Heba's gown @ Miss Universe: I think from the bust down, this dress was a knock-out! However, I thought that the see through netting that attached from the bust of the dress, over her shoulders to the back looked a little immature and took away from the classy effect. Heba's gown @ Miss World: I thought this gown was b-e-a-t-i-f-u-l but it looked quite ethnic with the embroidered feathers and things on it. The hair-extentions are a definate N0-NO! This assessment is by no means to detract from each delegate's individual beauty or the dress at all! It's just that if you look at pageant winners this year, they have unique/neautral non-ethnic gowns and their make-up is quite natural. Whoever is crowned Miss Egypt will undoubtfully be HOT, SEXY, BEAUTIFUL AND GENUINE. Whatever happens, put her in a sexy pageant winning dress and keep her make-up neautral so her natural beauty can radiate! My advice: Make Miss Egypt 2005 bring 2-3 different evening gowns to the international pageant. All the contestants go through full dress rehearsals before the preliminaries. So Miss Egypt can check out what most girls are wearing. If they are all going for the modern look, Miss Egypt should wear a modern dress. If she notices that everyone is wearing the pageant-patty, classic dress, then she should wear her classic, elegant dress. Good luck Egyptian beauties!!!!!!! YOU ARE THE BEST! Egypt obviously has B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L women who are smart, stylish and down to earth. But I think holding your national pageant in March/April is too late for a girl to prepare. Miss Venezuela has about 9 months to perfect her beauty, catwalk and interview skills. Miss Egypt only has 2 or 3 months before she has to compete.
