Hi everyone, how is it going on with Mr Egypt 2006? I would like to suggest Hany I don't remember his last name to be part of Mister Egypt 2006. Hany is a contestant from Egypt is participating on StarAcademy 3 (LBC channel) in Lebanon. Please watch the show he so amazing. He is extremely handsome, tall, proportional body, pationate and very educated. I really don't think he is a good singer, I think he should be a great actor. I suggest organizers of Mister Egypt should contact him, believe me he is amazing. Anybody watched him? What do you think?

Subject: MISS WORLD 2005 - THE TALENT SHOW

Author:
JBorges
[ Edit | View ]

Date Posted: Sunday, November 20, 11:35:07am

The first five awards of Miss World 2005 were presented tonight, to category winners at the Miss World Talent Show. An audience of nearly 3,000 packed into the Rui’an stadium to witness the night of their lives as the Miss World contestants sang, danced and performed their way into the hearts of the people of Rui’an.

The Miss World Talent Show is always a highlight of the pageant, and tonight’s show was no exception. Traditional dances, incredible voices and stunning costumes filled the stage as more than 65 contestants performed for the appreciative audience.

Songstress American Virgin Islands wowed with a rousing rendition of ‘I Will Always Love You’ and received a standing ovation from her fellow contestants to win the title in Best Singing Act, while national skating champion Italy wowed the crowds – and came away with the medal for Best Original Performance with a breathtaking roller skating display to Pavarotti’s Nessun Dorma.
Canada belly-danced her way to the top place in the traditional dance category, while Japan silenced the arena with her faultless violin recital to win Best Musical Act. The category of Best Dance Performance was hotly contested but Czech Republic scooped the title with her modern ballet to When You Believe from hit move The Prince of Egypt.

The overall winner chosen from the five category winners tonight – and recipient of a place in the final 15 – will be announced at the grand final in Sanya on 10th December.

Each girl in the three hour show did her nation proud as she tried her hardest to win her category and ultimately the first of three Fast Track places through to the final 15 in Miss World 2005. Throughout the evening, the other contestants provided much-needed support with applause and praise from their stage-side seats.

This year’s contestants have shown an especially high standard of talent, with a broad range of skills and talent. Representatives from the Asian countries did their continent proud with colourful displays of traditional costumes and dance, including Nepal and Vietnam, who also made a brief speech praising all the girls for the abilities and courage. Elsewhere in the evening, Vietnam silenced the audience with a beautiful dance performance mimicking a peacock, while Lebanon drew applause for her belly dancing. As we are in Asia, martial arts acts were to be expected but one striking display came from an unexpected source: Costa Rica. Her karate performance complemented the taekwondo display of Korea, who ended with a wood-splitting kick – and they were placed second and joint third respectively in the Best Original Act category.

In the final moments of the show, judge and Miss World 2004 Maria Julia stunned the crowd and contestants with an impromptu rendition of Peruvian song Criolla – something she has wanted to do since being in China. “I know that I am not a good singer but I was very proud to sing a song from my country,’ said Maju. But it was left to American Virgin Islands to close the show with a repeat performance of her winning song, with all fellow contestants clapping on stage behind her.

Judging tonight’s performances were Wenzhou’s Mayor Xu, Mr Chen Bu-Lin, head of the Wenzhou tourism bureau, Mr Zhou Yong-Liang, president of the Meilun Medical Group, Miss World Organisation Chairman Julia Morley, Miss World 2004 Maria Julia, beauty and fashion consultant Gillian Lentin and Emmy-winner writer Malcolm Williams.

Mrs Julia Morley thanked the local government of Wenzhou and Rui’An for their support during the Miss World 2005 visit to Wenzhou, and praised them for the welcome the girls have received during their four day trip. “A lot of you have daughters of a similar age or you are students yourself,’ she said. “The greatest thing is that all these young people are very nervous about performing. They are not professionals but they are performing for you in Rui’an with a good heart. They want to do their best for you all. From across the world we are performing for you as a big World family to recognise Rui’an as our home”

After the Talent Show a dinner reception was held at the Rui’an Sunshine Holiday Hotel. The contestants enjoyed the chance to congratulate each other on their performances over a banquet supper which included crab, prawns and beef, before facing the hour’s drive home to their hotel in the hills above Wenzhou.

Top 5 : Japan, Canada, American Virgin Island, Italy, Czech Republic

So Miss Earth 2005 has just passed and everyone is shocked that Miss Egypt Earth, Elham Wagdi, failed to place in the Top 16 (wasn’t it meant to be a Top 20 this year???).

Firstly, it is important to congratulate her for all of her efforts. I have never heard of any delegate being hospitalized during a pageant and still making it for preliminaries so that in itself is a huge accomplishment! She even had to face the extra challenge of losing her suitcases but that didn’t stop her positivism at all. Elham also placed in the finals for Best in Talent, which is ground-breaking for Egypt. Usually Egyptian delegates, while still stunningly beautiful, are on the shy and reserved side. Elham broke that mold by being extraverted and willing to take risks, which will help her so much in the future.

This year's Miss Earth proved to be the stiffest competition for any pageant I have seen so far in 2005. The delegates were all gorgeous and due to this it was hard to name a winner.

As for Elham and her personal style and wardrobe, many on this message board seemed disenchanted with her evening gown. A few of the comments mentioned stated that the dress colours (black and red) didn't match, the skirt needed ironing, and the best features of the gown were on the back side of it, which no one really got to see. However, as I stated in one of my posts, it is nice to see an avant-garde evening gown in a sea of over-used plain and elegant ones. Pageants are just no fun if you see the same white gown over and over again so this gown really grabbed my attention and made me take notice! I really think black is a dramatic colour and makes a delegate stand out. The dress itself fit Elham like a glove and accentuated her curvaceous figure. I found the tight red bodice really added some sex appeal to the dress and the whole “gothic” feel of this ensemble complimented Elham’s smoky eyes and mysterious look. I found that this dress would only work with her hair down in curls as it showcased a beautifully occult overall presentation. Her hair actually reminded me of Bourdour Salah’s magnificent hair! In her swimsuit, Elham heated things up with her wonderfully fit and healthy body. Her skin complexion was even and she seemed to have a great deal of confidence. What I also liked was her ability to make friends with other delegates aside from the gorgeous Miss Lebanon. This showed her willingness to step out of her comfort zone and make new friends. Elham looked liked she was right at home in the Philippines, which is hard for any competitor to do!

Now for the official Miss Earth results:

MISS EARTH 2005: VENEZUELA, Alexandra Braun
MISS EARTH-AIR: DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, Amell Santana
MISS EARTH-WATER: POLAND, Katarzyna Borowicz
MISS EARTH-FIRE: SERBIA & MONTENEGRO, Jovana Marjanovic
TOP 8 FINALISTS
CHILE - Nataly Chilet
PARAGUAY - Tania Domanickzy
PUERTO RICO - Vanessa de Roide
USA - Amanda Kimmel
TOP 16 SEMIFINALISTS
BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA - Sanja Susnja
CZECH REPUBLIC - Zuzana Stepanovska
ECUADOR - Cristina Reyes
EL SALVADOR - Irma Dimas
KOREA - Hye-mi Yoo
PHILIPPINES - Genebelle Ragaas
RUSSIA - Tatyana Yamova
TANZANIA - Rehema Sudi
I am not upset that Miss Venezuela won Miss Earth. When I saw the Miss Venezuela pageant live via the internet I thought she would actually win the title because she is stunning! However, I think she did need a tan and her body (although very nice) was a bit too young looking. I am glad she won though and she has put her country back on the map after such a horrendous year in 2004! I think she will do well.

As for the others that placed, there were some surprises and there were some obvious choices, like in any pageant. But it is important to remember that the ladies who made it this year did so because the Miss Earth organizers wanted them there. From 2002-2004 ME officials wanted the beautiful Egyptian delegates to place but this year they did not. This has nothing to do with Elham’s performance. When Elham left Egypt for the Philippines everyone had high expectations because of Egypt's reputation at Miss Earth (placing since 2002). But we all have to remember that in order for international pageants to sustain support, sponsorship and participation from several countries, they have to make sure that there is a variety of countries represented in the Top 16 during the final night (example for this year's pageant: Czech Republic, El Salvador, Korea and Tanzania). This not only makes the countries who place happy, which pushes them to send more delegates in the future, but it gives non-placing countries hope that their delegates may place a few year’s down the road because there is different representation in the finals every year. Even in 2004 when Miss Venezuela, Ana Karina Anez, failed to make the semi-finals at Miss Universe, which broke a historic tradition that I am still sad about) it was refreshing to see another girl from a country that usually doesn't place fill her spot (like Costa Rica or Paraguay). Organizers of major international pageants and even smaller ones have more power than fans think. A lot of money goes into the production of a single pageant and because of this beauty contests are a business first and a competition second. Since the scores are not publicly displayed it makes me wonder if the winner of any international pageant is pre-determined before the finals take place. We may never know if Maria (Miss World), Natalie (Miss Universe), Precious (Miss International) and now Alexandra (Miss Earth) received the highest scores or were just at the right place at the right time. This doesn’t take away from their abilities to be great queens but it does make me ask myself, “How much of winning a pageant is based on pure luck?”

But on a much lighter note, I truly think there are no losers in any competition as long as someone tries to represent themselves and/or their nation to the best of their abilities, which is what Elham did. The real losers are the ones who do not try in the first place as they miss out on the experience and the personal/professional growth.

So Elham Wagdi, Miss Egypt Earth 2005, you should feel proud and happy that not only you did your best and looked great doing it but that you also created a lot of media hype for yourself and Egypt. You were practically on everyone’s Top 16 list and the attention that you received will not only help you (because now everyone in the pageant industry knows who you are) but it will also help your successor for next year! Good luck in your future endeavors and thank you for a memorable Miss Earth!

Congratulations!

elham believes in herself and i think this made her shine.

Hi there!
I am not Egyptian but I adore Egypt and Egyptians very much and always wish the best for them.
About beauty contest, why there is no Mister Egypt contest? I think it would be less controversial than female beauty contest. What do you think. Just to give an Idea for the organizers.
All the best, Desertrose

Dear Mr. Youssef, I 've been following Miss egypt website ever since the 2005 competition. I can't deny the efforts made to improve it and keep us "FANS" up to date.

I would like first to congratulate Elham Wagdi for her amazing performance in MISS EARTH - i was following her news everyday and i'm sure she would have made it to finalists easy if it wasn't for her injury. If you see her tell her she has loads of Fans out there. Way to GO.. Elham!

Now about the MEC????? competition? excuse but i don't get it - what is that competition about?? and who got to choose the 10 contestants from the 21 who participated in miss egypt pageant 2005? What was the criteria to choose thenm in first place??

I mean i was chocked to find some of them (without mentioning names..) and not to find some other (this time i have to say names) like Aliaa shawky, Mahy darwish, Nathalie Fahmy,...)

One more thing i noticed you excluded Meriam and Elham (why is that)... the previous years you said that sara shahine and ines gohar won this title.. so why this year you're excluding the queen and the first runner up and you left the 3rd runner up (fatima)?? don't you think it's weird?

Why were sherine and heba disqualified (no reason was mentioned) and why weren't they replaced by 2 other contestants?

How is the vote gonna be made for such a competition?? my opinion is that it shouldn't be made by face to face.

Finally i don't mean to be offensive in any way... i am just a big fan and think you are doing good so far (FACE TO FACE) and i wish you do even better. So you have to make those fans understand what's going on..

Ginger

I like the 10 finalists of Miss Egypt Club....
the one i like the most is sherine el gazzar (samba)
shes a cutie that we dont see alot of.. we normally have those model-look-alike girls so i think sherine is different.. she is an egyptian version of miss chile earth.. in some way i guess!!

good luck to all the girls.. do they get to compete in any intl. pageant like ines el gohar?? if they dont..then theres no point of the title.. wt r they gona they do with it anyway??

i wanted to mention smthg i remembered..ages ago on dream tv when heba mandour and sally shaheen were hosts of some program together, i remember heba saying that she or sally would have been more better than sarah shaheen as miss egypt bcuz of their political education or msthg like that :S
i think they'r bothe ridiculous.. im not fond of those girls.. i think they're a bit up themselves and paranoid

I was reading the interviews of some of miss world's contestants and i was so happy to reasd something(s).. so i thought id share it with u guys.. 2 of the contestants (NZ & India) said they want to come to Egypt.. i was glad abt how Egypt is becoming more popular and attractive.. if only our ppl could love each other more and stop behaving with hatred towards each other (incidence that happened in alex a week ago!!)

Anyway back to the topic... these r the girls' answers to one of the interview qeuestions:

Where would you most like to visit in the world and why?

India :
It is my burning desire to one day explore the Pyramids of Giza as they are believed to be the beginning of human civilization, which fascinates me. Also rumours have it that the authorities in Egypt that protect ancient history are contemplating closing down public access to some of the Pyramids, because it is believed that the gas exchange that occurs while tourists are in the Pyramids lead to corrosion. So I would love to go explore these while I can.

New Zealand:
I would love to visit the Middle East and Egypt for it’s rich and amazing history. We know so much and yet so little about their daily lives and rituals. My father spent some of his childhood there and loved it, it is such an amazing place.

remember the very 'love it or haite it' argument on elhams dress..well obviously they didnt like it!! u guys were supporting the dress so much bcuz u want to support ur winner!!! but comeon..if u saw that dress on another contestant, u would have been going on,on how not nice it is!! plus the first impression always counts...the first impression of most the ppl who saw the dress thought it was ugly, only later on ppl started saying 'oh now i realise how beautiful it is'... but it was only a form of support
but we all know the dress sucked.. compare the dress to meriam's dress, or any other dress wore by any other egyptian winner!
this is one of the msgs posted on miss earth's voyforum :

It heared that rumoured that these are remaining top 20 finishers... 17th - 20th placers,Honduras (17), China (18), Egypt/Panama (tied at 19) and Brazil/India (tied at 20). I am so sad of Miss Egypt's Exclusion in the top16!! I knew it!! That ugly gown destroyed her chances in the final 16!! If she had a decent gown, she could have been in the top8!!!
(NT) --I want to slapped the makers of Miss Egypt's gown, 10:25:56 10/23/05 Sun

There u go..i think elham is way better than arwa.. arwa is very beautiful but elham has something very attractive about her... her body is much nicer too.. and the girl was well prepared.. but whoever thought he was doing her a good job by choosing that dress was wrong !!

U were very beautiful out there elham..get well soon

EGYPT - Elham Wagdi is such a stunner! Her sultry looks is a sight to behold. Her curls are flattering but she should straigthen some of them. Her near perfect body is sure to make her a contender for the Best in Swimsuit Award. Egypt is on its way to becoming a Miss Earth powerhouse. Good luck!

>>> BRAZIL and EGYPT are the non-finalists who should have been in the semifinals. Isabella Chaves may not be as stunning as her 2 predecessors but she knows how to play her cards well. Elham Wagdi is a delight to look at and her performances were consistent. Both these ladies constitute my Miss Earth 2005 Injustice list.

Get well soon...and please do rest and listen to what doctors are saying.

Nothing is worth risking your health for, and even if it means you'll miss the final nights of Miss Earth, it doesn't matter, because you're health comes first...

We're all proud of your achievements so far, so please take the rest needed!

ok elham was so pretty.. she was doing great and everything until the evening gown competition? wt kind of gown is that??!! fanman u once thought the green dress miss germany was wearing looked cheap!!
wt would u say abt this dress?? wt kind of designer designed it?? it is seriously bad..
i hope she dsnt wear that gown in the final night !!

how can she wear this gown after wearing that amazing dress meriam wore in miss universe.. i was so surprised...

any other designer could have designed elham a beautiful dress!! where is hany el beheiry? he made beautiful dresses last yr.. and if elie saab was busy, elham could have taken one of the gowns that were worn by 20005's contestants !!
