What I found troubling with this episode is that CSM went to all that trouble to use Scully to get the disk. I think she went for her own reasons--maybe to find a cure for her cancer that would allow her implanted chip to be removed. She knew that the chip could be used by the aliens to summon her and somehow between those two things, I figured that was why she took the chances that she did. What I don't understand is why the disk was tossed into the water--unless the information on it was useless or unreadable. Maybe the guy who was shot was just a wierd, crazy person who thought he had something of benefit to mankind.
