Don't you have any desire for character development? I love The X-Files for it's Mythology and MOTW stories, but what's the point if you're watching a couple of hollow characters? If we didn't have episodes like tonight's we'd have no insight on what the characters we're watching are like or what drives them outside of The Search for the Truth. I need a background when I'm watching a show that's been on for seven years. I don't think anyone wants to sit back and watch a show with 2 dimensional characters. I need some background history if I'm going to identify with the character on screen and want to watch week after week. Someone else has to agree with me on this. And for god's sake, why does everyone compare The X-Files with Lois and Clark? 2 TOTALY different shows in my opinion. Where Lois and Clark was somewhat restricted in the writing and where the story could go, The X-Files can explore many different aspects of not only the basic plot line (Mulder's search for the truth) but we have a wonderful chance to see what the characters are like and get into their past. I love a show that can entertain its audience by being creative and not trying to please the fair weather fan every week. So what if tonight's ep might not grab some non-X-Files fan attention? Why can't the writers allow themselves a chance to cater to the fans that have been with the show for years? Fans who want to know about the characters they are watching week after week? I applaud GA and this episode and hope we see more development like this in the few episodes we have left.
