You KNOW I can't resist an MSR puzzler. So....hmmmm! You make a good case for after Amor Fati and IG has already hit you with my standard retort. That is, You can hardly expect Scully to jump Mulder's bones while he is recovering from brain surgery. Especially, in light of her telling him he was still too sick to go into work. I don't know that I support IG's idea that Scully was afraid that she would be overcome by her own lustful nature, however. I mean, I WOULD BE...but then my spirit is willing and my flesh is weak. Scully on the other hand seems to have the forebearance of a Lesbian Nun when it comes to getting her hands on Mulder's "hot, tight little body". I would be more likely to believe that she felt that MULDER would be unable(or unwilling) to refrain from the Wild Monkey Positions.

The more puzzling point for me is that there is the feeling in that Amor Fati doorway scene that Mulder doesn't even expect Scully to come over. Possibly this is because she JUST left his apartment for work a short while before and finding out about DF she returned to tell Mulder the news. This would make his coming to see her kind of touching...but I don't know if I can buy this scenario as it is a reach. But it was this attitude rather than the lack of kiss that originally had me thinking Post Amor Fati. (On a side note btw I think that this moment is the one that started the disenchantment of viewers and led to a mass exodus by many a die-hard fan of the series. The lack of kiss at this juncture was the first time Mulder/Scully actually appear to be lying to the AUDIENCE. It was a serious good-faith breach on the part of CC and Co. and it started the whole silly dance of clipped dialogue and cryptic clues that the X-Files eventually resorted to in order to maintain their pointless deniability of the MSR).

Still I am sticking with Post Field Trip as the first sexual encounter and here's why: The assumption that most people make is that the NP would tear down any barriers and instantly make M/S a deeply committed loving couple. That is that the sex was all that stood in the way of the Love, Marriage and Baby Carriage for these two. Well, sex seldom solves problems...in fact, it usually starts them. And in the case of M/S, where we now know that he was asked to father a child for her there is an added burden involved in the sexual side of things. I figure the sex may not have solved anything for M/S. This is what I particularly like about Post Field Trip sex...cause I can see it as being hot and heavy and kind of a giving in to all of that pent up sexual tension and then the realities of their situation set in but good in Season 7.

BAMM! We have the return of DF as the "like-minded Ex" and the threat of brain damage and the challenging of all that Scully held dear. Suddenly there is a real opportunity for "COOLNESS" on the sexual homefront during Biogenesis and Amor Fati. I imagine the sexual thing took a backseat to other issues and then heated up again post Millenium. (BTW, I see it slipping to the back again during the resolution of the Samantha thing). I will back up KM on the "all things" front for one issue though, I DO think that "all things" marks the beginning of Mulder and Scully as a committed couple.
