UCHS Cheerleading is not what it used to be. I'm glad there are new girls on the squad but I don't think we need 3 squads. We could have a fantastic cheerleading squad if they were all one squad. One of the reasons I was told there were 2 squads for the ball games is because the girls (or maybe coaches) didn't want to go to all the ballgames. If you are on a team you go to all the games, there are not 2 basketball teams taking turns playing games because they don't want to go to all of them. UCHS needs cheerleading coaches like the middle school and elementary school have. They performed at the high school and they were great. They will be disappointed when they get to the high school and find that coaches are not interested in cheering, I really don't know what they are thinking. I'm sure our cheerleaders would be willing to do more cheering if they were encouraged. When Claiborne County and Cumberland Gap cheerleaders came to our school and cheered I'm sure our girls were envious of them, they were great. I hope we can get good cheerleading coaches and administration or athletic director to back them up. Keep cheering girls our ball teams need you!
