Amazing! To think I've been inquiring for years about this instrument from people in England, who I felt should know where it is, but kept being told it had "disappeared". I guess from an English standpoint it HAD disappeared! I'm very pleased it's been in New York all this time, hanging unsung in public view for clueless folks in the Big Apple. You'd think after 40 years more Brian fans would have known that!! Oh well, at least I know where it is NOW. Thanks Lazlo! :)

I've also learned from a Vox web site that the company actually MADE that particular guitar just for Brian, from his specifications. No wonder it looks so hacked up and spliced together. I think the problem with the factory produced guitar was the middle pick up made the instrument sound dark and heavy, and Brian didn't care for the sound.

His guitars seem to really get around. I believe the Gretch and another version of that Teardrop (I believe Vox made 5 of them?) are in the Brian Jones Museum, but I heard his old Harmony went up for auction last year. I'm not sure that was correct.

Does anyone know what happened to his later instruments...like his beloved Firebird and the gold Les Paul? I never really looked into that. Bad of me, but I kind of focused on the Teardrop and Gretsch, since those were the ones he played when I saw him in person.

Too bad what happened to his beautiful sitar. Just saying.
