I don't think his achievements were recognized in his lifetime, let alone after death.

Actually he and Mick were the two most popular Stones in the 60s and the teen mags of the day are full of Brian. So I'd say he was recognized in his day, in the way that recognition was given at the time. But it was a different era and the fans were also very different from what they are today. I think that the appreciation for the music and the way we listen to it has changed. I'm not saying that it is better or not as good, just different.

I do agree with you about Brian not being recognized after his death. I partly blame the Glimmers for this because they didn't keep his memory alive. Worse than that, Keith at least has done everything he could to belittle Brian's contributions. Yet without Brian, he would have had to earn a living doing whatever unqualified work he was suited for.
