Info on Goats Head Soup.

Linda, you really should seek out the 4 albums the Stones recorded with Mick Taylor: Sticky Fingers, Exile on Main Street, Goats Head Soup and It's Only Rock & Roll. All 4 are excellent. My favourites are Sticky and Goats.

I think over half of the songs of that era credited to Richards are actually Taylor.

That's a bit of an exageration. I have a lengthy interview in which Mick T talks very candidly about songwriting (among other things) and only claims to have written 4 songs with Mick Jagger. I think he was a bit modest in that assessment and that there probably are a few more, but not anywhere close to half the catalogue from that era.

I'm under the opinion that Mick T. quit the band over that...among other, even more obnoxious reasons.

He talks about that in the interview also and does mention songwriting credits as one of the reasons he left. The other reason he mentions is the out-of-control drug use, including his own. He wanted to stay alive more than he wanted to go on being a Rolling Stone.
