Lazlo, Ive never touched heroin in my life. I was addicted to pills such as Mandrax, Nembutal and various other nasties. And there was a pre heroin Anita. She didnt start using when she was with Brian, that came later unfortunately, with Keith. Yes, Anita did have an appetite for drugs, the same drugs most of the London crowd took en masse in the late 60s. Acid, hash, pills, coke, but very few of the pop stars of the day used heroin then. That seemed more the hard core jazz musicians. I didnt like Anita, but I will give her her due and not blame her for what she didnt do. As far as Europeans being less clean than Americans, yes, it does seem to be slightly true, but its not something you can classify as a fact. You must remember they suffered more privations than America during the war, and bathing while dodging bombs just wasnt a priority. Hot water wasnt something that just flowed in post war Europe, we even still had metered hot water tanks hanging over every tub that you had to feed with coins for every drop in 1968. I took many cold baths, showers not being at all common. In Marrakech I could only bathe at the public baths once a week, per Islamic law since I was an infidel woman. The rest of the time I stood at an outdoor sink in a courtyard and washed as best as possible in public with cold water. Anita was not particularly concerned about bathing from what I saw, rather she would douse herself with perfume, but could that not have just been due to habit from growing up in the war years? Please dont just make blanket statements about something you are not fully informed about. By the way, I didnt know Anita during her heroin addiction.
