Salli:

Thanks again for replying back and sharing such great stories. When you ran into Brian in 1966 had the Stones finished/released Aftermath? I know the recordings took place between tours etc... and it took a period of month's between 1965 and 1966 before they finished the LP.

A lot changed within the Stones during this time and it seemed as if Brian was really leading the way, not only with the Stones, playing Sitar, Dulcimer variety of instruments etc...but all of his musical peers. Many people have said that Brian "peaked" in 1966 with Aftermath...even ALO admits this. Perhaps by going to a variety of instruments Brian was still showing/reminding the Stones, his value to the band. One could say this was Brian's last attempt to reclaim some of the spotlight back towards him and not every second on Mick. Keith complains Brian never played Guitar anymore during this time period. But think about what Aftermath would sound like if Brian had "only" played Guitar? It would not be the same album and who knows if it would have been as successful?

In my opinion Mick and Keith owe a huge amount of gratitude to Brian making this album the first album consisting of all "Jagger/Richards" songs... which is a total joke. Salli if you want to know where ALO was obnoxious and pretentious etc... it's sticking "Jagger/Richards" to every song "written" by the Stones. Now that is another biggie... one more example of a big "turning point" in Brian's career.

Look forward to all replies!!
