I almost forgot, the Birmingham game was hardly a good advert for how football should be. As funny as it was, it also carries a more serious tone.
Football isnt just a working class release, kids, pensioners, business tycoons all have the right to call the game their own. Everybody owns a piece of it, and thats part of the beauty.
If going back to the good old days is the way to go, then we havnt got much different to look forward to. Instead of todays supposedly over paid, womanising, gambling, big heads, we can go back to yesterdays over paid, womanising, piss heads. Plus, we also get some of the worst crowd violence thrown in for good measure. Fantastic.
I may have been young, but i remember standing at a football match, watching my heroes through a cage. No thanks. Id rather see them paid £25,o00 a week and be able to watch the game as an equal.
Bottom line is, football was great then, football is great now. If people dont like it, then they dont need to watch it. Pick another sport.
Anyone for darts?!!
