In reply to: Xander Cage 's message, "Its fun this is..." on 10:12:09 03/05/03 Wed

I used the Birmingham game (not the off the field antics) as the antithesis of the Worthington Cup Final. During that game certain players (Giggs, Diouf, Silvestre, Heskey) were playing at half chat. The very essence of "well we're 3-0 down (sic), but im rich so who gives a fuck".

It's true that pride cant be bought. In a lot of players it doesn't enter their vocabulary. This isn't a 'our lads are better than these foreigners' rants either. The performances of Hyypia and Van Nistelrooy on Sunday, the class of Bergkamp, the fire of Vierra, the astonishing Henry etc... They all add to the game and the English game are now benefitting. Rooney/Milner/O'Shea etc are all better players for playing with foreign stars (Ginola/Kewell/Blanc etc). The things that piss me off is the apparent lack of loyalty and pride. The badge kissing thing etc.

I dont know. I was on a bit of a downer (it was very late), I've had a bad week, and I wanted to cause a debate. So in a way it worked ;)

PS - Would you consider signing us a form in case an extra body is needed at the end of the season, Xander?? And what about next season??
