Subject: Vex! Yeah the tart is here! Next time bring Val, we need a bit of naughtiness, keeps us from getting all frowny faced! Errr I haven't had many good experiences with Christianity, sad to say, even though I used to draw Jesus constantly when I was a child, I did love his face. Like Vex I'm gonna get gabby so CLICK HERE
In reply to: Vex., with big squeezy hugs! 's message, ":::standing well back as Rox opens this big f*ck-off can o' worms::: Jus' kidding, sweetie, we're all relaxed and groovy enough to handle even the slipperiest of subjects. Anyway, as both a heathen and a Libertarian-type, my only problems with religion come from its organization. Faith is wonderful -- I envy those who find comfort and beauty and security within their faith of choice. (click here because I'm chatty)" on 19:27:06 07/18/01 Wed

When I was a kid we all went to the Methodist Church and boy was it DULL! It was just like Eddie's routine where everybody droned the hymns. We were the only nonwhites in the congregation, hell we were the only nonwhites in the town! (I'm Japanese-American) I used to sleep in the pews, sitting up, with that head falls forward, jerk yourself awake thing, 'orrible! And I didn't like the other kids in Sunday School, they were the dullest and the meanest kids I deal with.

Also I just hated that thing where they said that any one who didn't accept Jesus as the Son of God was gonna burn in Hell. They didn't make an exception for anybody born when there was no Christian churches, or born before the missonaries came, so as a result all my ancestors were DAMNED! And my lovely gentle grandmother who gave me candy all the time, she was gonna burn because she was Buddhist! That's when I turned away from Christianity, at about 9, I
decided that God was better than that.

Later when I read more of Jesus' words I decided he was the first hippie and his message was the exact opposite of the Churchs' teachings, and then when I read stuff from Hinduism, and Buddhism, and the American Indian beliefs, I decided to be spiritual without joining any religion. I think most religious groups are social and political anyway, and so they are wanky like most human group things get.

But I do have to say the Catholic Church has the most beautiful rituals and music, it makes for a magical experience.
