Subject: Hi Magenta! (LOVE your name!) I agree with you about it probably being *both* a nature & nurture thing. What makes the most sense to me is that humans are basically bisexual, but of course, are born with one specific gender. I really believe in people getting together because of whatever is inside, the *soul* lets' say. I know a man who grew up with a terrible relationship with his father. He wasn't abused, but grew up essentially hating his father and anything he did. He used to have girlfriends, and later announced he was bi-sexual. His mom threw a fit, told him he couldn't be bi. He identifies himself now as gay. In this situation, there is obviously a whole lot of other influences besides nature, though I wouldn't call it "nurture". Unfortunately, we just don't live in a world that will accept everyone the same way.
