Subject: I need your help

Dear friends,


I need your help…We are told that the “Bible” is infallible and that everything between it’s covers are accurate and true. I was doing a study the other day and came across some articles that challenged this belief. I asked another pastor where I work if he would look at these statements and we could get together and go over each one. He never got back with me. When I asked him what he had found, he just stated “he didn’t want to talk about it”. As I dissected the different statements that I had read, I started thinking that I understood why he didn’t want to talk about it. I started questioning if God was trying to tell us that he wasn’t pleased with the way we have been trying to interpret or spread his word and wants us to listen to what he is offering us right now. The articles that I studied made statements that the Gospels were not even in consensus with what was going on when Christ died or what was even spoken. I went to the Gospels and found that they were correct…. The time that Christ was in the temple, just before he was taken before Pilate are different in the gospels. Who got to Jesus’ tomb first are different…what were Jesus’ last words on the cross-are different? I find that the miracles that Jesus performed are different in each of the gospels. How could Lazarus be mentioned in John only and not in the others? The changing of water into wine, John tells us that all the disciples were present, yet Matthew, Mark and Luke mention nothing of it. If Adam and Eve were the first people on earth, how were you and I able to be here? When Noah built the Arc and his was the only family of humans to escape the total annihilation of the human race, again how are you and I here? The questions go on and on and the more I study the more I find. To use the bible as a way to prove whether something is right or not, when there seems to be so much that doesn’t hold true, is hard to justify when I talk to people. I know that when I find something wrong with directions, such as the hovercraft my sons and I are building and I contact the company and they say, “oh, yea, we know there are problems but we don’t have the time to correct them” how can I continue to build the hovercraft with confidence when this doubt constantly popping up throughout the instructions. It doesn’t give you much faith with the company or the products…is this the same way with the Bible? I don’t know..Since we are told that God knows everything, did he pick this time to try to steer us in the right direction…but then this doesn’t make sense either…if He knows everything, then He already knows the out come, so why does He allow us to go through all this trouble and pain…. unless He is still on His “ego” trip and enjoys watching us fail.
