... the democrats will work harder to get out the vote and such (as most underdogs would) and the republicans will fall victim to general fatcatism and slack off a little. there will also be a little of the "vote the old rascals out so we can get the new rascal in" factor, also as usual. of course, there will also always be isolated and explainable exceptions.
