I have yet to see a story where a young woman barfing first thing in the morning *isn't* pregnant, but I suppose there's always a first time...

Never underestimate the power of human denial . . .

I've seen the device (antibiotics inhibiting birth control pills) a number of times in fiction, and decided to do a little research. This http://shs.osu.edu/blog/the-truth-about-antibiotics-and-birth-control1 seems to debunk it rather well.

Of course, that doesn't address the other legend - that being even a few hours late taking the daily pill can result in ovulation.

Most likely being sick makes people forget to take their pills.

What's amazing to me is that none of the women on the trip asked Michelle "How far along are you. dear?". Women seem to have a 6th sense about that.

Wes will tell us if Michelle is pregnant when he is ready to tell us. I'm not being a smart ass here. This a classic Wes Boyd story: young people and not so young people having to deal with the curve balls that life sometimes throws at us. This is one reason why I enjoy reading his stories.

She is so pregnant it's not funny. (See Doonesbury today 1/23 for a good pregnant storyline). That's the point though, and today's chapter just reinforces it with signs and portents. Wes could easily throw us a curve ball though, and of course, the story is long since written.

My comment though is about Crystal. Crystal's origin means to me that she is inextricably bound to the river, and to Canyon Tours. It's not just family and money, it's karma. And now the river, and Canyon Tours, have come to collect.

Enjoying as usual...

I suspect that Crystal will find ways to make more trips than she currently expects - at least most years. There will be some when she had real young kids that she might make only two or three - if that many. Once the kids get into high school, that will change again.
