Up and under means that a single axis player (an many pushers like Joe Norwood, or, even, Lee Trevino; winner at age 60!!)hit underneath the hips ( as opposed to around the hips), and up.

Moe gets so flat, with that long driver of his, that it is sometimes difficult to see this move, but it is very evident, on his iron shots.

It is my opinion that the weight staying over the right knee, and transferring on to the left big toe is all caused by this up and under move, and, if you have a hard time doing these things (including keeping weight on right foot) it is because you haven't mastered the move.

I am struggling with this myself, right now, but I feel that it is one of the misunderstandings of the swing.

If you want to experience this "feel", stand with your feet wide apart, facing forward, and lift your right arm, to the right, parallel to the ground, and underarm throw your right arm to the left side (stay facing forward). Note that all the Moe moves automatically happen from this underhanded throwing move. Notice that the swing goes under the hips and up.

Up for discussion. I think this is right, but not sure.

Remington
