I tried an overlapping grip and found I was loosing my SA allignment with it. I think it can be done (as well as other grip variations) depending on your personal anatomy.

I don't see how you can do either NG or IMA correctly without 'over sized' grips. With a conventional vardon grip, my correct grip size was 1/32 over standard. With my palm grip I need a diameter of almost 1" under the right hand (this is almost the butt diameter of a regular grip) or I would not be able to hold the club against the rotational release forces.
